Job description
The Head Teller role at Emirates NBD in Abu Dhabi is a supervisory position responsible for overseeing teller operations within one of the UAEās leading financial services institutions. Emirates NBD operates across the MENAT region and delivers a broad range of banking products and services including retail banking, corporate and institutional banking, Islamic banking, investment banking, private banking, asset management, global markets, treasury, and brokerage operations, with a strong focus on digital banking. In alignment with the UAE Governmentās strategy to empower and develop UAE Nationals, this role is dedicated to Emirati talent. The Head Teller supervises and trains a team of tellers, validates all transactions originating from the teller team, and ensures compliance with technical requirements, procedural guidelines, internal controls, and delegated authority limits. The role includes responsibility for day-to-day cash reconciliation, vault management, transaction audits, and resolving routine transaction issues and escalated customer complaints. The Head Teller interfaces with internal and external parties, collaborates with branch management to implement operational procedures and enhance customer experience, ensures compliance with banking regulations and risk management practices, assists with branch opening and closing procedures, and prepares operational reports. The role also requires staying updated on regulatory changes and bank policies while participating in ongoing training and development programs.

Key responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and train tellers on cash handling procedures, customer service standards, and compliance with banking regulations
- Validate and approve teller transactions within delegated authority limits to ensure accuracy and procedural compliance
- Oversee processing of deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and other teller transactions efficiently and accurately
- Monitor teller cash levels and manage vault operations to ensure adequate liquidity and adherence to security procedures
- Perform daily cash reconciliation and conduct regular audits of teller transactions and vault balances to identify discrepancies
- Resolve escalated customer inquiries and complaints professionally to ensure customer satisfaction and retention
- Collaborate with branch management to implement operational procedures, support sales objectives, and enhance customer experience
- Assist in branch opening and closing procedures including cash drawer balancing, securing the branch, and preparing management reports
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, banking regulations, and risk management requirements
- Stay informed on regulatory changes, bank policies, and industry trends to mitigate operational and compliance risks
Experience & skills
- Be a UAE National in line with Emiratization requirements
- Hold a bachelorās degree in finance, business administration, or a related field, which is preferred
- Have prior experience in banking or financial services with a minimum of two to three years in a supervisory role
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of banking regulations, compliance requirements, and risk management practices
- Possess proven experience in cash handling, teller operations, transaction validation, and reconciliation processes
- Show the ability to conduct audits of teller transactions and manage vault balances accurately
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office and banking software systems
- Exhibit strong attention to detail with high accuracy in cash handling and transaction processing
- Demonstrate the ability to handle escalated customer issues and coordinate with internal business units to resolve service-related matters
