Job description
The Relationship Manager ā Business Banking is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of Small Enterprise (SE) clients, achieving both financial and non-financial objectives through effective relationship management, credit evaluation, and business development. This role involves originating new SE relationships, deepening existing customer engagement, and providing tailored banking solutions across borrowing and non-borrowing products. The position requires strong knowledge of credit, trade, risk assessment, and legal documentation processes. The Relationship Manager will ensure full compliance with regulatory standards, including KYC, AML, and due diligence requirements, while maintaining portfolio quality and profitability. Responsibilities also include conducting annual credit reviews, recommending credit facilities aligned with the bankās policies, cross-selling bank products, and identifying opportunities to upgrade SE clients to Middle Enterprise (ME) category. The role demands strong interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills to build trusted relationships, enhance customer satisfaction, and achieve sustainable growth in the SME segment.

Key responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of existing Small Enterprise (SE) clients and develop new-to-bank relationships through active sourcing and lead generation
- Achieve assigned financial and non-financial targets by meeting all customer borrowing and non-borrowing needs
- Actively cross-sell, up-sell, and deep-sell banking products to increase share of wallet and revenue generation
- Conduct annual and periodic credit facility reviews for assigned accounts, recommending appropriate facilities in line with bank credit policies
- Monitor client accounts for satisfactory conduct and early detection of credit or operational risks
- Ensure portfolio quality by implementing control measures such as documentation, client visits, stock inspections, and credit checks
- Maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements, including KYC, AML, and due diligence procedures
- Identify and upgrade eligible SE clients to Middle Enterprise (ME) category based on business performance and needs
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Risk Management and business units, to ensure seamless credit processing and relationship management
- Screen the market for new-to-bank opportunities and develop business leads in targeted segments
- Provide mentorship and on-the-job learning to Sales Support Officers (SSOs) for professional development
- Prepare regular reports and updates for branch and regional management regarding portfolio performance and relationship management activities
Experience & skills
- Minimum 4 years of banking experience in business banking, SME, or corporate relationship management
- Proven expertise in credit analysis, trade finance, and financial risk management
- Strong understanding of KYC, AML, and compliance procedures
- Ability to manage borrowing and non-borrowing accounts with strong customer service focus
- Advanced knowledge of credit systems, trade operations, and banking legal frameworks
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work collaboratively within teams
- MBA or Chartered Accountant qualification preferred; graduates with relevant experience will be considered
- Experience managing client portfolios in local or international banking environments
