Job description
The Port Expansion Coordinator (Marine Operations) role is responsible for leading the planning and integration of marine operations as part of the expansion of Ras Laffan Port within the maritime and port operations industry. The position requires extensive expertise in port development, port planning, and port operations, combined with expert knowledge of the international maritime industry and port operations frameworks. The role involves applying principles and practices in the design and operation of various types of port and harbour facilities, ensuring alignment between operational requirements and expansion objectives. The coordinator is expected to integrate marine operations into large-scale infrastructure development projects while ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with maritime standards, and alignment with transport planning strategies. The role demands strong proficiency in English language communication, including oral and written communication, as well as the ability to deliver presentations and influence stakeholders effectively. Operating with limited supervision, the coordinator must demonstrate high levels of self-motivation, discipline, and the ability to manage tight schedules using strong organizational skills and time management capabilities. The position requires a senior-level maritime professional with a recognized qualification in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Operations, or Transport Planning, ensuring deep technical and operational expertise in marine and port systems.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning and integration of marine operations associated with the expansion of Ras Laffan Port by aligning port development strategies with operational requirements and ensuring seamless incorporation of marine activities into expansion initiatives
- Coordinate port expansion planning activities by applying expertise in port development, port operations, and transport planning to support the design, implementation, and operational readiness of new and existing port infrastructure
- Apply principles and practices in the design and operation of port and harbour facilities to ensure that all marine operations are effectively integrated into infrastructure expansion while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with international maritime industry standards
- Oversee the alignment of marine operations with port facility design by evaluating operational requirements, supporting engineering and planning teams, and ensuring that port and harbour facilities meet functional and operational demands
- Provide expert knowledge of international maritime industry and port operations to guide decision-making processes, ensuring that expansion activities adhere to global best practices and industry benchmarks
- Manage project integration efforts by coordinating with multiple stakeholders, ensuring that marine operations are synchronized with construction, engineering, and operational timelines under tight schedules
- Develop and deliver presentations and reports in English language to communicate plans, progress, and operational strategies, while influencing stakeholders and decision-makers to support project objectives
- Operate with limited supervision by demonstrating strong organizational skills, time management, self-motivation, and discipline to manage complex port expansion activities and ensure timely delivery of marine operations integration
Experience & skills
- Possess a minimum of 15 years’ experience in port development, port planning, or port operations roles, demonstrating extensive exposure to marine operations and large-scale port infrastructure projects
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of the international maritime industry and port operations, including understanding of operational frameworks, regulatory considerations, and global best practices
- Exhibit strong understanding of principles and practices in the design and operation of various types of port and harbour facilities, ensuring capability to contribute to infrastructure planning and operational integration
- Hold an internationally recognized senior maritime qualification such as a degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Masters in Maritime Operations, Transport Planning, or an equivalent discipline
- Demonstrate proficiency in English language with excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling effective reporting, documentation, and presentation delivery
- Show capability to prepare and deliver presentations and influence stakeholders by applying structured communication and influencing techniques in a professional environment
- Demonstrate ability to work with limited supervision by exercising a high degree of self-motivation and discipline in managing responsibilities and delivering outcomes independently
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and time management capabilities, ensuring ability to work under tight schedules and manage multiple priorities within port expansion and marine operations projects
