Job description
The LNG Ventures Manager at OQ Exploration & Production (OQEP) is responsible for managing and optimizing the performance of OQEPâs LNG joint venture assets operated by international partners. This role acts as the primary interface between OQEP and its joint venture operators, ensuring effective governance, technical alignment, and strategic value realization across the LNG portfolio. The incumbent will conduct multi-disciplinary reviews of asset development plans, oversee operator compliance with Work Programs and Budgets (WP&B), and ensure that all joint venture activities align with OQEPâs corporate objectives and the Sultanate of Omanâs national energy strategy. The role demands a deep understanding of LNG infrastructure, project economics, and market trends, along with strong stakeholder management and analytical capabilities to safeguard and enhance OQEPâs investment value.

Key responsibilities
- Manage and monitor performance of LNG joint venture assets, ensuring strategic and operational alignment with OQEPâs objectives.
- Conduct multidisciplinary technical and economic assessments of LNG assets, including reserves, production, and project development plans.
- Review operator-submitted development strategies and challenge assumptions to ensure optimal recovery and value creation.
- Oversee annual Work Program and Budget (WP&B) submissions, providing recommendations on expenditures, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Represent OQEP in technical and commercial meetings with joint venture partners, government entities, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with concession agreements, shareholder rights, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Monitor financial performance, including revenues, costs, and capital allocation, ensuring sound commercial oversight.
- Support development of alternative investment strategies and long-term LNG portfolio growth initiatives.
- Prepare analytical and financial reports for management and the Board, highlighting performance trends and key risk areas.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across legal, finance, commercial, and technical departments to ensure cross-functional alignment.
- Identify operational and strategic risks and propose mitigation strategies to sustain asset value and profitability.
- Promote best practices in safety, operational efficiency, and environmental stewardship within LNG operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across joint venture governance, performance monitoring, and asset optimization.
- Ensure all project documentation and reporting meet corporate, national, and international standards and audit requirements.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs degree in Engineering or related field (Masterâs degree preferred).
- Minimum of 8 yearsâ experience in engineering, asset management, or project management within the LNG or energy sector.
- Strong understanding of LNG infrastructure, technology, market dynamics, and value chain operations.
- Experience working within joint venture structures and managing partnerships with international oil companies (IOCs).
- Proven ability to oversee large-scale capital projects and operational assets, with financial and strategic accountability.
- Knowledge of WP&B processes, financial modelling, and economic analysis in the energy sector.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English required; Arabic language proficiency desirable.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
- Knowledge of HSE standards, risk management, and regulatory compliance frameworks specific to LNG operations.
