Job description
The Senior Manager, Tax (MENA and APAC) at Checkout.com is responsible for overseeing all corporate tax matters across the MENA and APAC regions. This role serves as the primary tax point of contact for regional finance, legal, and commercial teams, ensuring alignment and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The position requires strong expertise in corporate and international tax, particularly within multinational and financial services environments. The Senior Manager will manage direct tax compliance and reporting, implement and maintain transfer pricing policies, support strategic expansion initiatives, and collaborate closely with the global tax team on automation projects, Pillar 2 implementation, Country-by-Country reporting, and broader group tax initiatives. The role demands a proactive, adaptable, and hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth fintech environment.

Key responsibilities
- Act as the key tax point of contact for regional finance, legal, and commercial teams across MENA and APAC
- Ensure appropriate implementation and maintenance of transfer pricing policies and supporting documentation
- Own direct tax compliance and reporting for legal entities across MENA and APAC regions, coordinating with internal teams and outsourced providers
- Provide direct tax advisory support on strategic initiatives such as international expansion and new product launches
- Collaborate with the global tax team on automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy of tax processes
- Support group-led initiatives including Pillar 2 implementation, Country-by-Country reporting, and cash tax management
- Manage tax risks and ensure adherence to regional regulatory requirements
- Build strong working relationships across the organization to promote tax awareness and compliance alignment
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tax governance, processes, and controls
Experience & skills
- Qualified accountant or qualified tax adviser with recognized professional certification
- Minimum of 8 years of corporate tax experience within a multinational organization, preferably in financial services and in-house environments
- Extensive knowledge of corporate tax and international tax frameworks within MENA or APAC regions (experience in both regions is highly desirable)
- Strong experience in transfer pricing implementation and documentation management
- Hands-on experience managing direct tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Proven ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them practically to business operations
- Experience supporting tax automation initiatives and process optimization projects
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance, legal, and commercial teams
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and prioritize competing demands effectively
