Job description
The Senior Manager ā Compliance (Wealth Management / SCA / DFM / ADX) is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance across Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RB-WM) functions, ensuring alignment with applicable UAE regulations, internal policies, and the organizationās Compliance Risk Appetite. Based in Sharjah and reporting directly to the Head of Regulatory Compliance, this role acts as the primary compliance advisor and subject matter expert for Wealth Management, Conduct, and Consumer Protection matters. The incumbent provides regulatory guidance on the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) and Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) frameworks, supporting business operations through advisory, surveillance, and training. The position involves reviewing new investment products, structured products, and agreements from a compliance perspective, assessing regulatory requirements for smooth product launches, and ensuring adherence to Islamic Banking principles where applicable. The Senior Manager conducts periodic surveillance of RB-WM business activities, identifies compliance gaps, and leads remediation efforts for regulatory, RCSA, and audit-related issues. The role requires close collaboration with the Financial Crime Compliance team, Internal Shariāah Control Department, and regulatory authorities including SCA, CBUAE, and other oversight bodies. The incumbent supports regulatory examinations, manages licensing and approval processes, and ensures that compliance incidents are properly investigated, remediated, and reported. Additionally, the role involves developing and delivering compliance training programs, building awareness across business units, and fostering a strong compliance culture within the First Line of Defense. The ideal candidate possesses at least 8 years of experience in banking compliance roles, including 3 years in wealth management, with deep understanding of UAE regulatory frameworks, Islamic Banking products, and regulatory engagement protocols. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential for success in this position.

Key responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive compliance advisory support to the Retail Banking ā Wealth Management (RB-WM) business on SCA, CBUAE, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Act as the primary compliance point of contact for RB-WM business, ensuring all activities, products, and initiatives align with applicable regulations and the Bankās Compliance Risk Appetite.
- Conduct periodic surveillance of business activities to identify and address potential regulatory gaps and risks, including conflicts of interest.
- Review and assess new investment products, structured products, and agreements from a compliance perspective, ensuring regulatory and policy adherence.
- Advise RB-WM business units during product development to ensure smooth and compliant product launches.
- Interact with regulatory authorities including SCA and CBUAE to resolve licensing requirements, obtain approvals, and facilitate regulatory examinations.
- Assist in remediation planning and execution for compliance, audit, and RCSA findings related to RB-WM business.
- Provide guidance on compliance incident investigations, remediation strategies, and reporting obligations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of compliance reporting mechanisms specific to RB-WM operations.
- Coordinate with the Financial Crime Compliance team on matters related to SCA-licensed activities.
- Support and deliver compliance training and awareness programs tailored to RB-WM units to strengthen conduct and regulatory understanding.
- Ensure timely escalation of significant compliance issues and business advisories to the Head of Regulatory Compliance.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with the Internal Shariāah Control Department for applicable compliance matters.
- Promote ethical conduct and adherence to the organizationās business standards and Compliance Risk Appetite across RB-WM teams.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 8 years of experience in banking compliance, with at least 3 years focused on wealth management.
- Bachelorās degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Completed training in Islamic Banking, UAE regulatory frameworks, and compliance best practices.
- Deep understanding of regulations relevant to Retail Banking and Wealth Management businesses.
- Extensive knowledge of SCA and CBUAE regulations and licensing processes.
- Experience in reviewing investment and structured products from a regulatory compliance perspective.
- Familiarity with RB-WM Islamic Banking products and their regulatory treatment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex compliance challenges.
- Proven ability to interact effectively with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, advisory, and stakeholder management skills, capable of constructively challenging the First Line of Defense.
