Job description
The Government Relations & Emiratization Specialist at ABB is responsible for leading Emiratization initiatives and national talent programs to support the development and empowerment of UAE Nationals. The role involves full ownership of the design, execution, and continuous improvement of Emiratization programs including the UAE National Internship Program (WEP) and ABB Discovery Graduate Program. The specialist ensures compliance with national requirements, manages the Emiratization tracker, reports monthly performance, and acts as the primary focal point with government authorities including MOHRE and Nafis. Responsibilities include implementing regulatory updates from MOHRE, ensuring alignment with evolving national requirements, partnering with Talent Acquisition to manage the full lifecycle of UAE National Programs including delivery, onboarding, evaluations, mentor engagement, structured program assessments such as mid-term, rotation, and final presentations, as well as delivering learning experiences and CSR initiatives. The role supports Talent Acquisition by building university partnerships, participating in career fairs and events, and promoting Emirati talent attraction through postings on Nafis and other platforms. The specialist drives national employee engagement through monthly sessions, one-to-one check-ins, national events, development initiatives, and the UAE National Happiness Survey. Additionally, the role requires maintaining strong relationships with government entities including MOHRE, Nafis, DED, Immigration, and Free Zone authorities while ensuring compliance and collaboration with internal employees and government stakeholders. The position requires proficiency in MS Office including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and MS Outlook, fluency in Arabic and English, and a valid UAE driving license.

Key responsibilities
- Lead ABB’s Emiratization strategy by designing, implementing, and continuously improving Emiratization initiatives and national talent programs, ensuring alignment with UAE nationalization targets, internal workforce planning objectives, and corporate diversity and inclusion strategies while maintaining program governance and performance accountability
- Maintain and manage the Emiratization tracker, monitor nationalization metrics, prepare and deliver monthly performance reports, analyze workforce data, and serve as the primary focal point for MOHRE and Nafis regarding compliance reporting, audits, and regulatory submissions
- Implement regulatory updates from MOHRE and other government authorities, evaluate policy changes, communicate regulatory requirements internally, and ensure full compliance with evolving UAE national workforce regulations and Emiratization mandates
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to manage the full lifecycle of UAE National programs including WEP and ABB Discovery Graduate Program, overseeing candidate sourcing, onboarding, orientation, training delivery, mentor engagement, structured learning journeys, mid-term assessments, rotation evaluations, and final presentations
- Support Talent Acquisition by building and maintaining strong university partnerships, coordinating campus engagement initiatives, participating in career fairs, facilitating recruitment events, and promoting Emirati talent attraction through Nafis postings and additional recruitment platforms
- Drive UAE National employee engagement initiatives by organizing monthly sessions, conducting one-to-one check-ins, coordinating national celebrations and cultural events, implementing development initiatives, and administering the UAE National Happiness Survey to monitor employee satisfaction and retention
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with government entities including MOHRE, Nafis, DED, Immigration, and Free Zone authorities, ensuring smooth coordination for approvals, documentation, compliance requirements, and Emiratization-related initiatives
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including HR, Talent Acquisition, business leaders, and program mentors to ensure successful execution of Emiratization initiatives, alignment of development plans, and continuous improvement of national talent programs
Experience & skills
- Obtain a Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent academic qualification supporting government relations and Emiratization program management
- Demonstrate 0–2 years of experience in recruitment, Emiratization, government relations, or HR-related functions, preferably with exposure to UAE nationalization initiatives and graduate development programs
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel for data tracking and reporting, Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations, and MS Outlook for stakeholder communication and scheduling
- Show ability to manage Emiratization programs, support national talent development initiatives, and coordinate recruitment lifecycle processes including onboarding, evaluations, and training delivery
- Demonstrate knowledge or exposure to UAE government entities including MOHRE, Nafis, DED, Immigration, and Free Zone authorities and their role in Emiratization compliance and workforce regulations
- Demonstrate ability to build relationships with universities, coordinate career fairs, support campus recruitment, and contribute to Emirati talent attraction strategies
- Demonstrate fluency in Arabic and English both written and spoken to support communication with government entities, internal stakeholders, and UAE national candidates
- Hold a valid UAE driving license to support mobility for government visits, university engagement activities, career fairs, and stakeholder meetings
