Job description
The Manager - Indirect Tax Operations will oversee and manage indirect tax operations across approximately 15 countries, focusing on compliance, audits, and operational efficiency. The role will work closely with the Group’s shared service centre in Egypt, external advisors, and internal governance teams to streamline VAT, Sales Tax, and Excise Tax compliance while identifying optimisation opportunities. The position also involves indirect tax audits, e-invoicing initiatives, and monthly reporting to CFOs and Risk Committees.

Key responsibilities
- Manage VAT/Sales Tax compliance including registrations, deregistrations, return filing, clarification requests, payments, and refunds for the GCC region.
- Oversee outsourcing engagements for VAT return preparation and filings for applicable countries and manage relationships with tax advisors and service providers.
- Oversee other indirect tax compliance and reporting obligations such as Excise Tax.
- Assist in implementation of e-invoicing and other indirect tax related initiatives.
- Provide inputs into day-to-day tax advisory for respective areas and countries.
- Identify and ideate tax optimisation opportunities to create value for the group.
- Assist in preparation of monthly reporting packs and dashboards for CFOs and Risk Committee highlighting risks, opportunities, and compliance status.
- Coordinate with stewardship and governance teams at Group level on key operational and compliance matters.
- Manage indirect tax audits and share progress and learnings with other verticals.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a tax environment in a large organisation managing indirect tax operations and audits.
- Experience in a Big 4 Audit firm or tax consulting role recommended.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting is mandatory.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA/ACCA/CPA/ICAEW).
- Strong practical and technical tax knowledge in VAT, Sales Tax, and Excise Tax.
- Strong understanding of global tax regulations and trends.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
