Job description
Direct reports, globally distributed teams and medium-sized projects all sit under this Lead Mechanical Engineer at Bechtel's new Energy office in Al Khobar. Work spans studies, FEEDs, PMC and detail design across Energy Transition, eFuel, hydrogen, oil and gas and petrochemical projects. Static and rotating equipment selection, sizing, design calculations and materials evaluation form the technical core. Key deliverables such as Mechanical Equipment Specifications, Datasheets, Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and Inspection and Test Plans pass through your review, and you will contribute to P&ID, HAZOP and Model reviews. Schedules and budgets are planned by interpreting project scope against industry codes, with cost performance and change tracked through the trend program. Bechtel's EDPs, design guides and BSAPs set the procedural framework. Since much of the portfolio is brownfield work in the Middle East, Aramco standards come up constantly, alongside API, ASME and BS. Coaching junior engineers, delivering training and resolving construction and startup issues in the field round out the position. Applicants need a BEng./MEng. in mechanical engineering or an allied discipline and at least 15 years in Energy Transition, Petrochemical or Oil and Gas, with Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer status preferred.
