Job description
The Manager Business Continuity & Crisis Management at du is responsible for leading the crisis management function, ensuring organizational resilience through proper planning, response, and recovery strategies aligned with directives from Competent Authorities like TDRA and NCEMA. The role includes fulfilling national emergency management requirements, coordinating crisis communication, disaster recovery planning, DR testing, and maintaining readiness of command and control infrastructure. The incumbent will oversee risk assessments, simulate crisis scenarios, and ensure compliance with national/international standards. Duties also include incident tracking and reporting, facilitating executive decision-making during crises, updating DR procedures, and supporting external/internal audits of critical infrastructure. The role demands strong communication, analytical, and crisis response capabilities, with an IT background considered advantageous.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Manage the crisis management team through crisis identification, damage assessment, plan activation, and recovery phases
- Coordinate with Competent Authorities (TDRA, NCEMA) to fulfill national business continuity and emergency response requirements
- Communicate with other telecom operators to ensure compliance with the National Telecom Emergency Management Plan
- Support and govern DR run book workshops and activities for respective teams
- Conduct Technology Disaster Resilience assessments and document recovery priorities and inter-dependencies
- Establish and coordinate disaster recovery testing plans and support execution
- Ensure command and control center readiness and effective summoning plans
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements for du data centers
- Execute crisis simulations to support executive readiness and decision-making
- Ensure safety and resilience of critical national infrastructure according to standards
- Track incidents and prepare trend analysis reports for management
- Lead communication, escalation, and DR procedure activation during crises
- Review and update disaster recovery procedures for critical technology systems
Experience & skills
- University graduate with job-related certifications or professional qualifications
- Minimum 5ā8 years of experience in a Crisis Management role
- Knowledge and skills in Disaster Recovery
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under stress with quality output
- Capability to manage multiple activities and prioritize workload
- Logical and analytical thinking
- Research capabilities for documentation and improvement
- Knowledge of internal du policies and procedures (preferred)
