Job description
Safety culture on site starts with this Construction Manager role at NMDC's Dredging and Marine Business Unit in Abu Dhabi, where safety becomes a natural part of every task performed. You manage, supervise and coordinate all self-performed and contracted work on site, keeping field construction activities aligned with project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards. Project schedule and cost stay under control through the efficient use of construction resources and contractors, with project schedules developed in cooperation with construction engineers and contractors. Daily and weekly short-range planning gets maintained down to foreman level, and design scope gets reviewed for constructability with recommendations submitted for change where needed. Manpower levels get determined to hit schedule milestones, with craft mixes monitored to keep the construction plan on track. You track productivity and cost closely, taking action to maintain maximum labor productivity and cost-effectiveness while controlling scope creep through properly documented and approved change orders. Contractual commitments across cost, quality and schedule get managed for every contractor, alongside coordination of their field activities and planning for the project's temporary facilities. Equipment use, tool supply, personnel training and client relations at the site all fall within scope, keeping everyone on site working safely and to established policies and procedures.
