Job description
The Senior Project Risk Engineer role in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is a senior-level position responsible for managing and overseeing project risk across large-scale engineering and construction projects. The role requires extensive experience in pre-construction management, including contract management, procurement, tendering, estimating, and cost control, along with strong working knowledge of schedule management and construction sequencing from pre-design through design development, construction, and closeout. The position involves leading project planning, development, and implementation activities, facilitating regular meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal management teams to identify, assess, and evaluate risks throughout the project lifecycle. The role is accountable for preparing and implementing comprehensive construction risk management plans covering risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation procedures, predicting potential financial liabilities based on data from collieries, authorities, and internal sources, managing costs, claims, change orders, and conflict resolution, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, to required quality standards, and within agreed scope in line with established project management methodologies. The position also requires strict compliance with Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health policies and procedures and maintenance of risk management databases to support effective corporate and project risk governance.

Key responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all aspects of project planning, development, and implementation across construction projects
- Apply pre-construction management expertise including contract management, procurement, tendering, estimating, and cost control
- Manage project schedules and construction sequencing from pre-design through closeout
- Facilitate meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and management teams to identify and assess project risks
- Prepare and implement construction risk management plans including risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation procedures
- Predict potential financial liabilities using data from collieries, authorities, and internal sources
- Manage project costs, claims related to cost and time, change orders, and conflict resolution
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, to quality standards, and within agreed scope
- Maintain compliance with Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health policies and procedures
- Maintain and manage project and corporate risk management databases
- Support corporate risk management practices and procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned by line management
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Management from an accredited university
- Possess a minimum of 15 years of experience in engineering and/or project management
- Demonstrate experience serving as a risk manager on large-scale projects
- Exhibit proven expertise in commercial risk management practices and procedures
- Demonstrate experience in risk quantification across cost, schedule, quality, and safety dimensions
- Show experience maintaining risk management databases such as ARM
- Demonstrate understanding of corporate risk management procedures
- Exhibit ability to identify problems, assess alternatives, and determine solutions independently
- Demonstrate reliability and initiative to deliver results without close supervision
- Have experience working internationally, with experience in Saudi Arabia preferred
