The Civil Structural Designer role at Wood in Abu Dhabi is part of the Civil Engineering team within the Oil, Gas & New Energies business and is based full time at the Abu Dhabi Engineering Center due to project and client requirements. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality civil and structural design and drafting deliverables for EPCM projects across concept, Front End Engineering Development, technical studies, detailed design, and construction support phases. The position supports large and complex oil and gas upstream, midstream, onshore, offshore, gas-to-liquids, decarbonisation, and electrification projects for national and international energy clients. The role requires strong expertise in civil and structural drafting, preparation of sketches and drawings from agreed work scopes with minimal engineering input, and compliance with national and international codes of practice, statutory documentation, company standards, and client specifications. The designer works on concrete structures, steel structures, underground structures, low-rise building architectural drawings, grading drawings, civil site layouts, and underground facilities. The role utilizes CAD and 3D design tools including AUTOCAD, MICROSTATION, SP3D, PDS, PDMS, and optionally CIVIL 3D. Responsibilities include site surveys, maintaining technical quality, ensuring work is delivered within budget and schedule, supporting safety standards, maintaining filing systems, assisting lead and senior engineers, providing technical assistance to assigned personnel, performing self-checking and checking of others’ work, and continuously improving working practices in alignment with Wood’s engineering, safety, and quality standards within the energy sector.
