Job description
The Clinical Risk Manager at Danat Al Emarat, part of M42, is responsible for leading the investigation and management of complex patient safety events within a specialty womenâs and childrenâs hospital environment including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Womenâs Health, Fetal Medicine, and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role involves leading sentinel event investigations, conducting high-quality Root Cause Analysis (RCA), translating risk insights into sustainable system-level improvements, and applying patient safety science in an acute care setting. The position requires oversight of clinical risk identification, mitigation strategies, and governance frameworks, while acting as a senior advisor to clinical and executive leadership on patient safety, clinical risk exposure, ethical considerations, and harm prevention strategies. The Clinical Risk Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining clinical risk and patient safety policies aligned with regulatory requirements including Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) standards, Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation standards, and Tasneef Jawda audits. The role includes managing facility risk registers, analyzing incident and harm data, validating Jawda patient safety indicators, supporting accreditation readiness assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The position also involves delivering staff education on clinical risk management, patient safety principles, and Just Culture, supporting governance committees, and providing expert reporting to internal committees and external regulatory bodies while ensuring patient-centered outcomes, quality improvement, and continuous risk reduction across acute care hospital operations.

Key responsibilities
- Lead complex investigations of high-risk incidents and sentinel events, own Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes, develop corrective actions, monitor effectiveness, and implement sustainable system-level patient safety improvements
- Provide proactive clinical risk identification, analysis, and mitigation across patient care services including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Womenâs Health, Fetal Medicine, and Level III NICU operations
- Act as senior advisor to clinical and executive leadership on patient safety risks, clinical risk exposure, ethical considerations, and harm prevention strategies within acute care hospital settings
- Develop, review, and maintain clinical risk management and patient safety policies aligned with Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH), Joint Commission International (JCI), and regulatory requirements
- Manage facility risk register and risk reporting framework, analyze incident and harm data, identify system-level vulnerabilities, and drive targeted evidence-based safety interventions
- Ensure robust Jawda patient safety indicators data validation including oversight of accuracy, completeness, regulatory compliance, and reporting requirements
- Support accreditation and regulatory readiness including JCI accreditation, Tasneef Jawda audits, readiness assessments, and regulatory surveys
- Lead staff education, coaching, and governance committee participation on clinical risk management, patient safety principles, Just Culture, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or other healthcare discipline with clinical experience in acute care hospital environments
- Demonstrate significant experience in clinical risk management and patient safety within acute care hospital settings
- Show proven capability leading sentinel event investigations and facilitating complex Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) standards, Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation requirements, and healthcare regulatory frameworks
- Exhibit experience managing risk registers, incident analysis, harm data review, and implementing risk mitigation strategies
- Demonstrate ability to operate confidently with senior clinicians and executive leadership while providing clinical governance advisory support
- Show experience supporting accreditation readiness, regulatory surveys, and Tasneef Jawda audits within healthcare environments
- Demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with fluency in English and preference for Arabic language capability
