Job description
The Data Center Project Manager role within Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation is responsible for managing assigned data center projects and service incidents to ensure reliable service delivery across Microsoft’s global cloud infrastructure. The role involves troubleshooting service incidents, performing root cause analysis, escalating issues to appropriate stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to safety, security, and operational policies. The position supports end-to-end service quality including availability, safety, security, and customer experience, while proactively managing schedules, coordinating maintenance activities, and mitigating customer impact. The role operates within Microsoft’s large-scale data center environment supporting platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Office 365, OneDrive, Xbox, and Bing, and contributes to continuous improvement through collaboration, mentorship, and sharing of best practices across data centers, with a strong focus on sustainability, operational excellence, and compliance with Microsoft Cloud security requirements.

Key responsibilities
- Manage assigned data center projects and service incidents to meet service delivery objectives and operational requirements
- Troubleshoot service incidents and perform root cause analysis with escalation to stakeholders as required
- Follow and enforce safety and security policies and procedures and immediately report safety or security concerns
- Manage schedules, identify conflicts, and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize customer and business impact
- Assess potential customer impact of incidents or operational events and plan mitigation actions accordingly
- Manage relationships with clients, vendors, and suppliers to ensure expectations are documented and met
- Monitor costs and ensure adherence to budget requirements while identifying risk reduction opportunities
- Hold accountability for end-to-end service quality including availability, safety, security, and customer experience
- Support issue escalation and resolution in alignment with management priorities and service standards
Experience & skills
- Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least one year of relevant industry experience, or possess two or more years of industry experience with college coursework
- Demonstrate ability to meet Microsoft Cloud background check and security screening requirements
- Apply experience in critical environment infrastructure such as UPS, generators, and AHU systems or physical IT infrastructure
- Demonstrate familiarity with servers, storage, networking, data center capacity, racks, and structured cabling
- Hold or be working toward relevant certifications such as PMP, ITIL, CompTIA, CDCP, Microsoft or network certifications
- Demonstrate ability to work fully on-site with limited travel requirements
