Job description
The Senior Accountant β Regulated Fintech is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial records within a high-volume, regulated payments environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring robust internal controls, precise reconciliations, and accurate month-end reporting. Operating within a fast-growing fintech environment, the Senior Accountant leads core accounting functions including month-end close, settlement integrity, regulatory reporting support, and audit preparation. The position requires strong discipline, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally to establish and improve accounting processes for new financial products and activities. The role is particularly focused on client money protection, settlement reconciliation, and adherence to regulatory standards such as DFSA requirements.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end month-end close process ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Prepare and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations
- Record and review revenue and cost of revenue accruals
- Maintain fixed asset registers, prepayments schedules, and payroll journal entries
- Perform daily reconciliation of client money balances to ensure safeguarding compliance
- Monitor and reconcile settlement cycles across strategic payment partners
- Maintain comprehensive settlement trackers and supporting documentation
- Support preparation of DFSA prudential reporting schedules and regulatory submissions
- Prepare VAT and corporate tax reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Own and manage the audit Prepared By Client (PBC) process, ensuring readiness and completeness
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls within a regulated fintech environment
- Drive process optimisation and automation initiatives within finance operations
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement appropriate accounting treatment for new products and activities
Experience & skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
- Professional qualification such as CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in audit, accounting practice, or accounting roles within regulated environments
- Experience in fintech, payments, or other high-volume transaction businesses
- Strong experience with reconciliations, settlement flows, and client money controls
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., DFSA or similar regulatory bodies)
- Outstanding attention to detail with strong analytical capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high accuracy standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, Sage, or similar systems
- Highly organized with a proactive approach to continuous process improvement
