Job description
The Senior Design Engineer – Water and Wastewater Infrastructure (Saudization) is responsible for leading and supporting the design management of regional water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and desalination plants, ensuring alignment with client requirements, technical standards, and project schedules. The role involves managing and coordinating design consultants, reviewing technical design deliverables, performing engineering and technical analyses, and monitoring progress against program objectives to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient design delivery. The engineer supports the Project Manager in delivering design activities in accordance with project programs and client requirements, while also supporting the management of design teams and consultants. Responsibilities include coordinating and monitoring design consultant activities, preparing progress reports for Design Project Management, reviewing and analyzing design plans and technical findings, ensuring quality assessment of design outputs, and supporting decision-making through specification of appropriate analytical methods. The role also contributes to green initiatives in design processes, ensures compliance with environmental, quality, safety, and occupational health policies, and supports Contracts and Construction teams in pre-construction and post-contract award activities to ensure seamless integration of design into execution phases. The position requires strong expertise in water master planning and wastewater master planning, with the ability to review and approve engineering designs, provide technical leadership, and ensure that all deliverables meet required quality and regulatory standards while supporting efficient infrastructure development in Saudi Arabia’s Qassim region.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and support design management of water and wastewater infrastructure projects including treatment plants, pumping stations, and desalination facilities.
- Coordinate and manage design consultants to ensure compliance with client requirements, technical standards, and project schedules.
- Support the Project Manager in delivering design activities according to program timelines and project requirements.
- Monitor and report on design consultant progress against planned activities and project performance benchmarks.
- Review and organize design deliverables and coordinate technical evaluations with subject matter experts and review teams.
- Perform technical and engineering analysis on design plans and validate findings for reporting purposes.
- Prepare and review technical and business reports based on design analysis outputs.
- Define analytical methods to support engineering decision-making and design optimization.
- Provide quality assessment reports to project management and client stakeholders.
- Support Contracts and Construction teams during pre-construction and post-contract award phases.
- Contribute to green initiatives and sustainable engineering practices within design processes.
- Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and efficient design delivery.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 15 years of post-graduation experience in engineering roles.
- At least 10 years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design.
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater master planning.
- Ability to review and approve water and wastewater engineering designs.
- Experience in design management and coordination of engineering consultants.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in infrastructure project lifecycle including design, pre-construction, and construction support.
- Familiarity with quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health compliance frameworks.
