The Lead Data Analyst – Banking role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is responsible for understanding business requirements and providing data mapping and analysis that forms the blueprint of data flow from raw source systems to customized data marts, dashboards, and APIs required for data consumption. The role plays a critical function in the data management process, ensuring data is collected, transformed, and made accessible for analytical purposes while enabling informed decision-making through large dataset analysis. Responsibilities include conducting Business Discovery Sessions to understand project requirements, working with internal system support teams, DBA teams, and MIS teams to translate requirements into desired data marts and reports, and preparing data mapping documentation for multiple data platform layers including raw (bronze), EDM (silver), and project-specific (gold). The role supports project phases alongside data engineers, data modelers, QA testers, and Power BI developers, and collaborates with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business requirements. The position requires strong data querying and processing using SQL, SAS, Oracle, Apache Spark, and similar technologies, along with data visualization using Power BI, Business Objects, and Crystal Reports. The role involves working with data warehousing and ETL concepts, distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, cloud platforms including Azure and AWS, and structured and semi-structured data formats including JSON, Parquet, Avro, and XML. The Lead Data Analyst also ensures data governance, quality assurance, compliance best practices, and applies data modeling techniques including schema design, partitioning, and performance tuning while leveraging computer science fundamentals such as data structures, search algorithms, and queues to support performance-critical data engineering initiatives.
