Job description
The Senior VMware Engineer in the ICT category at du in the United Arab Emirates serves as an L2 technical SME responsible for the daily management, monitoring, and health of a multi-cloud environment spanning VMware/vCloud Director (VMware/vCD), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The role provides expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for complex incidents, acting as the final point of escalation to minimize service impact and meet SLA targets, and manages platform integrity by implementing and managing security controls, patches, and configurations to ensure compliance with security frameworks and contractual obligations. The role proactively analyzes and optimizes platform performance and resource utilization to ensure efficiency and cost control, and works directly with customers as a trusted advisor to understand requirements, recommend optimizations, and drive operational efficiencies to enhance satisfaction. The role develops and maintains detailed technical documentation and standard operating procedures and identifies and implements opportunities for service improvement. Required qualifications include a Bachelorās degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and required professional certifications in one or more of Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), VMware (VCP-DCV), or Huawei Cloud, with ITIL Foundation certification highly desirable. Experience requirements include a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure management and cloud operations, a proven track record as an SME managing and supporting multi-cloud environments including VMware/vCloud Director, Azure, and OCI, demonstrated experience managing Enterprise customers with a focus on optimizing performance, ensuring high availability, and maintaining SLA compliance, and practical experience with infrastructure components including network security, storage systems, and Windows/Linux server administration. Skills include advanced knowledge of cloud platforms (VMware/vCD, Azure, OCI) including deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting; proficiency in managing network security, storage, and operating systems (Windows & Linux); familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash for automating routine tasks; and knowledge of security best practices with experience implementing compliance controls in cloud environments, alongside requirements to resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

Experience & skills
