Job description
The Senior Commercial Consultancy Manager at Mace in Riyadh is responsible for leading integrated teams across all project phases, ensuring effective commercial management and delivery. The role involves preparing and administering contracts, warranties, bonds, and licenses while ensuring compliance, managing valuations, variations, cost control, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The manager leads claims evaluation, contract completion, and final account negotiations to ensure fair resolution and client satisfaction. They provide leadership and coaching to cost consultants and managers, build strong stakeholder relationships with senior decision-makers, and embed sustainability and net zero carbon goals into project delivery, aligning with Mace’s strategic priorities and values.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, administration, and execution of all contracts, warranties, bonds, and licenses associated with projects, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements while mitigating risk to the organization.
- Manage and oversee valuations, variations, and cost control measures, ensuring timely financial reporting and accurate forecasting throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Drive the assessment, negotiation, and resolution of claims, contract completion, and final accounts to protect project financial interests and maintain strong client relationships, delivering outcomes that are both fair and aligned with contractual obligations.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of cost consultants and managers, fostering high performance, continuous improvement, and professional development within the commercial management function.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with key project stakeholders, including senior clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams, to facilitate effective collaboration, alignment, and influence on strategic and operational decisions.
- Embed sustainability and net zero carbon considerations into all project planning, design, and delivery processes, ensuring adherence to environmental goals and contributing to Mace’s corporate responsibility objectives.
- Lead value engineering initiatives, evaluating design and construction options to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality, safety, or project objectives.
- Provide ongoing commercial advice to project teams, guiding risk management strategies, monitoring compliance with contractual obligations, and proactively identifying opportunities to improve project financial and operational performance.
Experience & skills
- Holding a degree in quantity surveying, cost management, or an equivalent professional qualification that demonstrates deep knowledge of construction commercial principles and practices.
- Professional membership (MRICS/RICS) or active progress towards accreditation, validating expertise and ongoing professional development in commercial and construction management.
- Proven experience and expertise in commercial management, demonstrating the ability to manage complex contracts, financial reporting, valuations, variations, and final accounts effectively across large-scale projects.
- Strong financial and analytical acumen, with the capability to interpret, forecast, and report project financial performance, while identifying and mitigating potential commercial risks.
- Extensive knowledge of construction contracts, including understanding of rights, obligations, risk allocation, and dispute resolution mechanisms, complemented by practical experience in value engineering.
- Demonstrable experience in stakeholder engagement, including managing relationships with senior clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams, with the ability to influence decisions and drive outcomes aligned with project goals.
- Commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and net zero carbon principles, with experience in embedding these into project delivery, ensuring compliance with both internal and external requirements.
- Strong leadership and team management experience, including coaching and mentoring cost consultants and managers, promoting a high-performance culture, continuous improvement, and professional development within the commercial team.
