Job description
As a Strategic Security Consultant within Google Cloud's Mandiant team, the role is responsible for assessing, designing, and building comprehensive cybersecurity programs for clients. The consultant operates across operational and technical levels, addressing complex cybersecurity challenges including security operations, detection engineering, security architecture, cyber incident response, and cloud security. The position entails developing cloud security architectures, governance, and standards while implementing industry-leading practices such as DevSecOps strategies, Zero Trust design, and cloud incident response. The role includes performing security configuration reviews for cloud SaaS platforms, delivering intelligence-led tabletop exercises, and guiding clients in understanding cyber threats, including state-sponsored and criminal threat actors. Mandiant's recognized expertise in cyber defense, threat intelligence, and incident response informs the consultant's work, leveraging frontline experience, machine intelligence, and security validation to provide advanced protection and risk mitigation for enterprise, government, military, and intelligence clients.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Develop roadmaps and recommendations to drive client enhancements of their cloud security architecture, governance, and standards
- Identify, incorporate, and articulate cloud security best practices such as DevSecOps strategy, Zero Trust design, and cloud incident response
- Perform security configuration reviews for common cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms
- Become a trusted partner to clients, building and maintaining excellent relationships
- Develop and deliver intelligence-led tabletop exercises
- Assess ransomware resilience and provide advisory support at operational and strategic levels
- Span operational and technical tasks to address complex cybersecurity problems for clients
Experience & skills
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience assessing and developing cybersecurity solutions and programs across security domains
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience delivering cyber outcomes, identifying mission risks, and devising solutions
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
- Ability to communicate fluently in English to work with internal partners and customer teams
- Prefer certifications related to specific cloud platforms
- Prefer experience implementing industry-leading practices around cyber risks and cloud security frameworks
- Prefer experience working in enterprise organisations, government departments, military, or intelligence services
- Prefer understanding of the cyber threat landscape, including prominent state/criminal threat actors and cyber attacks
- Prefer ability to obtain security clearance from a national authority
