Job description
The Data Governance Senior Lead Specialist will be responsible for defining, implementing, and enhancing data governance strategies across the organization in support of business and data initiatives. This role involves assessing current governance practices, designing policies, and ensuring compliance with global standards and regulatory requirements. The specialist will collaborate with senior management and the Data Management Committee to improve data quality, lineage, security, and traceability, while establishing clear data roles and responsibilities. Additionally, the role demands strong expertise in data architecture, governance tools, and measuring ROI for data initiatives.

Key responsibilities
- Define, understand, and implement data governance strategies across the organization in support of business and data initiatives.
- Analyze inputs from management on existing data issues, governance practices to understand current practices and pain areas and provide perspective to mitigate issues raised.
- Assess, design, and implement improvements in policies and processes related to communication/coordination of organization data governance initiatives, such as data quality, access management, etc. and across data governance categories, including access, lineage, quality, security, change management, environment, and monetization.
- Establish and maintain clearly defined data roles and responsibilities at the strategic and operational levels with a focus on decision-making and issue resolution responsibilities.
- Effectively communicate relevant project information, including status reports from project work streams, to senior management and the project team.
- Oversee and collaborate on defining and designing various governance templates, SLAs, and benchmarks on policies, including communications, data exchanges, retention, escalation timelines, quality, etc.
- Lead in establishing a robust data architecture to accommodate evolving regulatory requirements flexible enough to support a wide range of future growth initiatives.
- Adhere to the governance calendar and ensure that all governance meetings and agendas are met on stipulated timelines.
- Ensure issue management, tracking, and resolution of escalations raised by business users related to access, catalog, quality, and traceability.
- Measure and track the ROI on data initiatives and projects.
- Identify best practices and global governance trends across the industry and share insights with the team and the Data Management Committee.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent.
- CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, CRISC, CISA, CISM, PMP, Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe, Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
- Industry recognized privacy or data governance related certification.
- Sound knowledge of Data Governance tools and technologies.
- 6+ years of experience, preferably at post graduate level and relevant work experience.
