Job description
The Account Manager, based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, supports production chemical solutions for upstream oil and gas customers following the acquisition of ChampionX by SLB. The role focuses on managing strategic customer accounts, driving sales growth, optimizing chemical treatment programs, and ensuring operational and commercial excellence. The Account Manager serves as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams including supply chain, R&D, technical services, and marketing to deliver value-added solutions. The position requires strong technical expertise in upstream chemical applications combined with commercial acumen, contract management capability, and in-depth knowledge of the Saudi oil and gas market.

Key responsibilities
- Drive a strong safety culture in alignment with Goal Zero principles and report safety observations and incidents.
- Manage assigned customer accounts, build long-term strategic relationships, and maximize sales and profitability across the product portfolio.
- Achieve and exceed sales targets and business plan objectives for assigned accounts.
- Lead all contractual and commercial activities including pricing, scope of work, negotiations, record keeping, and proposal preparation.
- Develop accurate monthly product volume forecasts and provide variance analysis.
- Maintain sales pipelines and provide market intelligence on competitors and new activities.
- Review chemical injection rates and optimize product usage to ensure accurate forecasting and treatment efficiency.
- Provide technical recommendations on oil and gas chemical treatment programs including corrosion, scale, bacteria, demulsifier, and water treatment.
- Develop chemical treatment strategies and optimization plans for customer operations.
- Coordinate with supply chain to ensure raw material availability and production continuity.
- Collaborate with R&D and technical teams on specialized applications, product trials, testing, deployment, and monitoring programs.
- Manage first-fill communications and coordination for new projects with EPC contractors.
- Deliver value-added solutions to customers and clearly communicate technical and commercial value propositions.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in production chemicals applications within the upstream oil and gas industry.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in sales, business development, and customer relationship management.
- Strong knowledge of upstream oil and gas operations and chemical treatment programs.
- In-depth understanding of corrosion control, demulsification, scale inhibition, bacteria control, and water treatment processes.
- Thorough experience in the Saudi oil and gas market; experience with EPC and consultancy projects is a plus.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in contract negotiation and proposal development.
- Ability to travel and relocate when required.
- Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Understanding of confidentiality policies and regulatory compliance requirements.
