Job description
The Head of HSE for Drilling leads the Health, Safety, and Environmental section within the Drilling & Completions Department. The role provides specialist advice and oversight to ensure safe and efficient execution of onshore and offshore drilling and rigless operations, ensuring compliance with corporate HSE policies and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the HSE section, providing guidance to drilling and completions teams
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures for drilling operations
- Oversee risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with statutory and corporate HSE requirements
- Provide HSE support during onshore and offshore drilling and rigless operations
- Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations to ensure safe operations
- Lead HSE training programs and competency development for staff
- Advise on emergency response planning and crisis management
Experience & skills
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in the Oil or Petrochemical industry with deep knowledge of drilling and rigless operations.
- At least 2 years of direct rig site experience, demonstrating practical application of HSE practices under operational conditions.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory role, managing HSE teams, overseeing safety performance, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
- BSc. Engineering or equivalent Degree in a relevant discipline, providing foundational knowledge for integrating HSE with engineering operations.
- Completion of related HSE courses, covering safety management, risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency response, and occupational health practices.
- Proven expertise in Corporate HSE policy compliance and application of statutory HSE requirements within operational settings.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive safety audits, hazard identification, and risk management for complex onshore and offshore drilling activities.
- Strong track record of implementing safety training programs, emergency preparedness plans, and fostering a proactive safety culture within operational teams.
