The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end financial reporting function within a semi-government utilities organization based in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and all relevant regulatory requirements. It involves overseeing statutory reporting cycles, managing complex financial transactions, coordinating audits, and ensuring robust internal control frameworks are in place across the organization. The role requires deep engagement with tax compliance obligations, financial consolidation activities, and detailed financial analysis to support executive decision-making and sustainable organizational growth. The Financial Reporting Manager is also responsible for monitoring financial KPIs, improving reporting processes, and enhancing operational efficiency through financial systems and ERP platforms. A key aspect of the role includes liaising across multiple departments, facilitating audit processes, and ensuring alignment between financial reporting outputs and regulatory expectations. Additionally, the role includes team leadership responsibilities such as developing staff capabilities, conducting performance appraisals, and ensuring continuous training and knowledge sharing. The position demands strong communication skills to present financial insights clearly to senior stakeholders and the ability to manage competing priorities in a structured and results-driven environment. Key responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end financial reporting processes including preparation of statutory financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Manage financial reporting cycles, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate external and internal audit processes, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and audit standards.
- Review and analyze complex financial transactions to ensure accurate accounting treatment and compliance with policies and standards.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to ensure financial accuracy, governance, and regulatory compliance across the organization.
- Prepare and deliver detailed financial analysis and KPI reports to support strategic decision-making by senior management.
- Lead tax reporting and compliance activities ensuring adherence to applicable tax regulations and obligations.
- Drive process improvement initiatives within financial reporting functions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and system performance.
Experience & skills
- Apply a minimum of 10+ years of experience in financial reporting, auditing, or corporate finance roles within large organizations or public accounting firms.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and statutory financial statement preparation.
- Utilize advanced analytical skills to interpret complex financial datasets and communicate insights to senior stakeholders.
- Operate ERP financial systems effectively to support reporting, consolidation, and financial process automation.
- Possess professional accounting qualifications such as CA, CPA, or ACCA (preferred).
- Collaborate effectively across departments and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting outcomes.
- Adapt to evolving accounting standards, regulatory changes, and industry best practices impacting financial reporting.
- Lead and develop finance team members through coaching, training, and performance management initiatives.
