Job description
HSBC is seeking an Equity Analyst to join its Global Research team in Dubai, focusing on MENA Industrials. This role involves covering assigned stocks, producing independent and actionable research, and maintaining up-to-date coverage across the team’s stock universe. The analyst will generate research reports, conduct thematic research, integrate ESG factors into valuations, and communicate insights to both internal stakeholders and institutional clients. Responsibilities include financial modelling, company/sector valuation, report writing, and advising clients on equity investments. The role requires strong collaboration with global colleagues across research, equity sales, trading, and marketing, as well as engagement with corporates, regulators, and clients. The Equity Analyst must demonstrate deep sector knowledge, technical financial expertise, and the ability to generate innovative investment ideas while adhering to HSBC’s policies and research standards.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Maintain research coverage of assigned stocks including timely updates on earnings and significant events
- Produce independent research reports adhering to house style and supported by factual analysis
- Generate thematic research highlighting major trends and contribute to global research products
- Integrate ESG and sustainability issues into company performance and valuation assessments
- Communicate research views to internal and external clients and adapt communication style to audience
- Advise clients on buy/sell/hold decisions and respond to ad-hoc client requests
- Establish strong relationships with clients, corporates, and internal stakeholders
- Support HSBC Research rankings through proactive client engagement
- Conduct financial modelling and valuation analysis of covered companies and sectors
- Recruit, train, and retain associates, including managing offshore research support
- Adhere to HSBC policies, procedures, and control requirements, raising concerns as appropriate
- Promote diversity, inclusion, and mitigate unconscious bias in team decision-making
Experience & skills
- Strong expertise in sell-side equity research (buy-side or industry experience also considered)
- Experience covering emerging markets desirable
- Fluent spoken and written English; knowledge of Middle Eastern languages is an advantage
- Technical expertise in finance including financial modelling, statement analysis, and valuation
- Good understanding of financial markets and asset classes
- Strong stakeholder management experience
- Proficiency with Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, and Refinitiv DataStream
- Computer literacy with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, and think strategically
- Strong communication, storytelling, and presentation skills
- Team player; organized, diligent, and able to go beyond what is asked
- Graduation degree required (minimum requirement for UAE visa and work permit)
