Job description
EYâs MENA Tax â Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR) team seeks an Assistant Manager in Dubai to lead complex tax compliance and reporting engagements, combining strong technical tax skills with practical commercial, legislative and industry knowledge. The role manages day-to-day client engagements, including monitoring scopes, schedules, budgets and deliverables, implementing standardized processes, anticipating and identifying risks with appropriate escalation, and driving performance-improvement solutions. Responsibilities include leading teams that help manage clientsâ compliance and reporting needs, ensuring the highest service quality and adherence to Tax Quality guidelines, conducting quality control reviews, coordinating with clients and subconsultants, strengthening internal and external relationships, and supervising high-performing teams while building a positive learning culture through coaching and counseling of junior team members. The position requires excellent communication, comfort working across borders with large amounts of data, and a strong track record of managerial and organizational experience, ideally gained within a large professional services environment and involving domestic and international tax developments.

Key responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day management of GCR client engagements, monitoring progress, deliverables, scope, schedule and budget
- Implement standardized processes, anticipate and identify risks, escalate issues appropriately, and drive performance-improvement solutions
- Provide technical oversight for tax compliance and reporting services, ensuring service quality and adherence to Tax Quality guidelines
- Establish, maintain and strengthen valued internal and external relationships, acting as a key contact for clients
- Conduct quality control reviews and ensure deliverables meet EY standards
- Supervise and mentor high-performing teams, coaching and counseling junior staff and fostering a positive learning culture
- Coordinate with clients and subconsultants, including participation in contract and engagement management activities
- Contribute to practice growth initiatives within the GCR team and support business development as required
Experience & skills
- Hold a bachelorâs degree with strong academic credentials in accounting, business, finance, taxation or a related field
- Possess a minimum of 4 yearsâ experience in domestic and international tax rules/regulations and developments, ideally within a large professional services environment
- Demonstrate a strong background in tax accounting and tax auditing, ideally within a large professional services company
- Show a strong track record of managerial, organizational and project management experience
- Ideally hold an MBA/masterâs and/or professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA or ADIT
- Demonstrate experience dealing with multinational clients and working in a multi-cultural environment
- Exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work with large amounts of data across borders
- Demonstrate in-depth commercial, legislative and industry knowledge and the ability to produce high-quality work products
