Job description
Leads the development and implementation of routine and non-routine corrosion control and materials selection, and continuously improves process unit corrosion assessment methodologies across OQEP Operated Assets. Provides assistance to projects and operations on Materials Selection and Corrosion Control methodologies to extend equipment life, optimize efficiencies, and avoid unforeseen shutdowns to support Asset Integrity. Acts as technical focal point for specific failures and deviations related to materials and corrosion, supervising and executing corrosion inspection, corrosion monitoring, and assessments in alignment with company and international standards (NACE, API, ASME). Oversees corrosion monitoring and control programs ensuring plant and equipment comply with company standards, applicable codes of practice, department strategies, and policy; leads cross-functional technical interactions to close issues in materials selection and corrosion management; supports inspection services and integrity assessments within the Asset Integrity department including MOC and HAZOP; calculates corrosion rates using corrosion prediction software; defines major repairs for fixed equipment and supports inspectorsâ repair scopes; contributes to integrity reports; serves as focal point for legislation pertaining to inspection services and integrity assessments, providing input to new capital projects and planned maintenance; reviews inspection procedures, frequencies, and reports with recommendations for further assessment; inputs risk assessment and scoped inspection/QA-QC items into the annual maintenance plan and worklists. Drives outcomes such as maximized equipment availability through effective corrosion control, minimized intrusive inspections via effective NDT techniques, minimized turnaround duration and maximized intervals, robust RBI programs, and elimination of repeat-failure defects via RCA. Conducts technical tender evaluations and coordinates with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering Services on problems through to proposed projects; monitors individual performance and KPIs; ensures compliance with HSE and environmental procedures. Role operates across field operations and office environments (moderate to intensive computer use) and aligns to Group Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, Omani legal frameworks, HSE standards, and best international practices.
