Job description
The Data Governance Specialist supports the organizationās data strategy by ensuring high standards of data quality, security, and accessibility. The role focuses on establishing governance frameworks, managing data assets, and promoting a data-driven culture within the organization. Working closely with analytics, IT, and business units, the specialist ensures that data is properly structured, secured, and leveraged to support strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and security of data.
- Manage data classification schemes and ensure appropriate handling of sensitive information.
- Create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata standards, and centralized data repositories.
- Implement data quality controls and monitor data integrity throughout the data lifecycle.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data security and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyze organizational data needs and develop strategies to support business insights and transformation initiatives.
- Work with data analysts and data scientists to support analytics-driven projects and initiatives.
- Oversee or contribute to data collection, cleansing, and transformation processes.
- Promote a data-driven culture by improving data literacy and awareness across the organization.
- Build strong relationships with business units and stakeholders to understand their data needs and priorities.
- Measure and communicate the business value generated from data initiatives and service requests.
Experience & skills
- UAE National candidate required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related role.
- Exposure to the banking domain and financial data environments.
- Experience with data governance principles, data quality controls, and data analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in data management tools such as data warehousing platforms and data catalog solutions.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelorās degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Analytics, or related field (Masterās preferred).
