Job description
Alvarez & Marsal is hiring a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across the Middle East, with a particular focus on the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with local regulations, and cross-functional coordination with HR, Finance, and external vendors. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional with regional experience, strong system knowledge, and a commitment to operational excellence in a fast-paced, global organization.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and organize payroll data and templates for submission to third-party providers.
- Accurately process payroll data including new hires, terminations, bonuses, and benefits.
- Ensure timely approval and processing of manual payroll payments and exceptions.
- Review payroll outputs and WPS files, resolving any discrepancies or variances.
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure accurate and compliant payroll execution.
- Manage social security contributions including GOSI, DEWS, and GPSSA.
- Track and maintain time-off records for payroll accuracy.
- Ensure registration and deregistration of employees with appropriate authorities and insurers.
- Maintain compliance with all local payroll and employment legislation.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and handle payroll-related inquiries effectively.
- Support payroll audits, reporting, and documentation for internal and external use.
- Assist in payroll system transitions and contribute to process improvement projects.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in payroll processing, with deep knowledge of UAE and KSA regulations.
- Experience working in an outsourced managed payroll environment preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Workday is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders and vendors.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Adaptability to work across time zones in a fast-paced, global environment.
