Job description
The Derivatives Products Development Expert is responsible for providing subject matter expertise across the full lifecycle of exchange traded derivatives products within a capital markets and financial exchange environment. The role supports internal committees, working groups, and senior management by advising on derivatives product strategy, design, governance, and market development. Responsibilities include conducting in-depth market research and benchmarking to identify product gaps, emerging trends, and innovation opportunities; preparing detailed product proposals, business cases, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit and impact analyses; and designing product structures, specifications, and lifecycle frameworks in coordination with trading, clearing, risk, legal, and operations teams. The role ensures all products comply with regulatory, legal, and exchange requirements, supports margin model definition, settlement mechanisms, and risk controls, and manages post-launch performance monitoring, enhancements, amendments, and product sunset processes. The position contributes to strategic initiatives focused on product diversification, market development, and revenue growth while supporting governance, process design, and best-practice implementation across the division.

Key responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise on derivatives products to internal committees, working groups, and senior management
- Conduct market research and benchmarking to identify product gaps, emerging trends, and innovation opportunities in derivatives markets
- Prepare detailed product proposals, business cases, feasibility studies, and cost benefit and impact analyses
- Design derivatives product structures, specifications, and lifecycle frameworks in coordination with trading, clearing, risk, legal, and operations teams
- Ensure all developed products comply with regulatory, legal, and exchange requirements
- Liaise with market participants, members, vendors, and service providers to gather feedback and support product adoption
- Monitor post-launch product performance and recommend enhancements based on usage, liquidity, and risk indicators
- Coordinate with stakeholders to define margin models, contract specifications, settlement mechanisms, and risk controls
- Draft, review, and maintain product-related documentation, rules, procedures, and disclosures
- Manage product enhancements, amendments, and sunset processes for existing derivatives products
- Contribute to strategic initiatives related to market development, product diversification, and revenue growth
- Advise on division and department strategy to ensure alignment, governance, and effective monitoring of initiatives
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline
- Preferably hold a Master Degree and a professional qualification in Financial Management or CFA or equivalent
- Possess a minimum of 6+ years of experience in derivatives product development, capital markets, exchanges, clearing houses, investment banks, or related financial institutions
- Demonstrate experience designing or managing exchange traded derivatives products including futures, options, and structured products
- Exhibit exposure to regulatory frameworks, product approval processes, and market infrastructure environments
- Show demonstrated involvement in derivatives product launches, enhancements, or market development initiatives
