Job description
The Vice President - Risk is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework, Business Continuity Management (BCM) System, and Crisis Management framework. The role ensures alignment of risk governance with the organizationās strategic objectives while embedding risk awareness across core business processes and functions. The VP - Risk oversees risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting at a strategic level, ensuring effective management of enterprise risks. Additionally, the role drives the design, rollout, and testing of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and ensures compliance with regulatory standards, including NCEMA requirements. The position requires strong leadership, deep expertise in ERM and BCM, and the ability to influence executive stakeholders and board-level committees.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the design, documentation, communication, and implementation of the organizationās Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity Management, and Crisis Management frameworks.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive risk management and business continuity policies, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and industry best practices.
- Embed risk management and business continuity processes into core business functions and individual roles through close collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Conduct annual reviews of the risk management policy, prepare updates for executive sign-off, and communicate amendments across business units.
- Identify, assess, and report significant enterprise risks and emerging issues, ensuring appropriate escalation and executive visibility.
- Partner with departments to design and implement effective mitigation strategies and monitor the execution of action plans.
- Prepare and consolidate quarterly strategic risk reports, including risk dashboards and mitigation progress, for senior management and board reporting.
- Scope, plan, and execute annual Business Continuity Plan (BCP) testing programs, ensuring readiness and resilience across the organization.
- Support stakeholders in proactively identifying and managing risks arising from organizational changes, market developments, or external events.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including NCEMA regulations, and integrate regulatory expectations into the risk framework.
- Promote a strong risk culture by articulating the commercial and strategic value of effective risk management to senior leadership.
- Undertake ad hoc risk-related initiatives and strategic projects as assigned.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in Enterprise Risk Management within large organizations, preferably in real estate, construction, financial services, or consulting sectors.
- At least 2+ years in a managerial role leading a corporate risk function.
- Bachelorās degree in Finance or Engineering.
- Professional certification in Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity Management Systems.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, including NCEMA regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing risk management and business continuity frameworks.
- Ability to analyze complex risk data and present insights effectively to senior executives and board members.
- Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to articulate the commercial value of risk management in supporting strategic objectives.
- Capability to challenge constructively at senior and executive levels while maintaining strong professional relationships.
