Job description
This role is responsible for delivering advanced process control and optimization solutions, identifying process improvement opportunities, and ensuring projects are executed to meet customer requirements. The Lead APC Engineer will work across multiple process industries, provide consulting and technical leadership, develop optimization models, and support pre-sales activities. The role includes client engagement, project design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and training, with a focus on Honeywell Profit Suite and related optimization tools.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver technically sound process optimization solutions that meet customer requirements and unlock targeted business value.
- Identify process control and optimization improvement opportunities at various industry sites.
- Lead feasibility studies for control optimization considering design, operational constraints, and ROI.
- Provide consulting support for project activities including project kick-off, step testing, model testing, commissioning, and SAT.
- Support pre-sales by developing value propositions for new optimization areas such as autonomous solutions.
- Conduct training for plant operations and engineering teams on Honeywell process performance solutions.
- Troubleshoot process unit, software, and instrumentation issues and develop strategies to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Act as a subject matter expert for process hazard analysis, design modifications, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Recommend quality and efficiency improvements within engineering and product development.
- Identify and communicate project risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Promote and support adjacent solutions such as process simulation, operator training, and automation.
- Review control philosophies, process descriptions, P&IDs, and proposals.
- Work independently on assigned projects, supervising subordinate staff and interacting with multidisciplinary teams.
- Engage with sales, product managers, EPC contractors, and customers to ensure technical support and project success.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in process optimization delivery across industries such as refining, petrochemical, gas processing, and oil & gas.
- Hands-on experience with real-time and multi-variable optimization solutions.
- Experience developing inferential and property predictors.
- Expert product knowledge of Honeywell Profit Suite; experience with PACE, DMC+, and RTO is beneficial.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Visual Basic, CL, and Fortran.
- Experience with data historians like Uniformance PHD, OSI PI, and IP21.
- Familiarity with DCS/Operator stations including Honeywell Experion, TDC3000, Yokogawa, Siemens, Foxboro, ABB, Emerson, and others.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and control theory.
- Extensive process modeling experience and expertise in PID/APC monitoring and advanced regulatory control.
- Experience with process simulation packages such as UNISM, Dynsim, and HYSIS.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Control; advanced degrees preferred.
