Job description
The PMC E&I Supervisor based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is responsible for overseeing the electrical and instrumentation scope on onshore oil and gas projects with ADNOC Offshore. This position involves supervising construction engineering teams, ensuring that all site and design activities are performed according to project specifications, technical standards, and HSE requirements. The supervisor prepares site development plans, including earthwork calculations, and assists in developing Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for excavation and backfill work. Responsibilities include designing underground utility networks for storm water, sanitary water, and oily water systems, reviewing and approving E&I drawings, and ensuring compliance with project standards. The role involves liaising with construction personnel, addressing site queries, and providing guidance on schedule adherence and corrective actions. The supervisor is responsible for engineering calculations, preparing design sketches, reviewing supplier and inter-discipline drawings, participating in project progress meetings, and supporting contract requisitions. Additional duties include assisting in staff training, documenting lessons learned, verifying design compliance, and maintaining coordination with the Lead or Supervising Electrical/Instrument Engineer. The position emphasizes execution of work within allocated man-hour budgets and project timelines while maintaining commitment to high HSE performance.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare site development plans and perform earthwork calculations for excavation and backfill activities
- Assist in the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for earthworks under direction of Lead Electrical/Instrument Engineer
- Design underground utility networks including storm water, sanitary water, and oily water systems
- Perform engineering design calculations, prepare sketches, and review technical drawings for compliance with project standards
- Attend project progress meetings and assist in preparing comprehensive progress reports for management and stakeholders
- Advise supervising engineers on schedule slippages, causes, corrective actions, and unresolved technical issues
- Prepare contract requisitions, schedules of quantities, and procurement-related documentation for underground utility works
- Liaise with construction personnel and address site queries to ensure smooth execution of E&I scope
- Review, comment on, and approve supplier drawings and inter-discipline drawings relevant to E&I scope
- Execute all assigned work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards and demonstrate commitment to high HSE performance
- Participate in design activities, training, inductions, and documentation reviews to support project delivery and staff development
- Verify that all designs meet required standards, project objectives, and agreed schedules
- Perform duties as reasonably assigned by Lead or Supervising Electrical/Instrument Engineer, ensuring project goals are achieved
Experience & skills
- Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Environmental, Chemical, IT, Computer, Software, Electronic) or equivalent from an accredited institute
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, with at least 5 years (preferred) in the GCC region
- Experience in E&I supervision for large-scale oil and gas projects, including underground utility and site development works
- Ability to perform engineering design calculations, prepare sketches, and review technical drawings
- Knowledge of site construction processes, progress reporting, and contract requisition preparation
- Proficiency in liaising with construction teams and addressing site queries effectively
- Strong understanding of safety, health, and environmental (HSE) standards and ability to enforce compliance
- Capable of advising on technical issues, schedule management, and corrective actions
- Familiarity with preparation of project standards, job notes, and coordination across disciplines
- Ability to execute assigned responsibilities independently and provide guidance to junior staff
