Job description
The Head of EYFS will lead, manage, and be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of the Primary school, supporting the school's Vision, Mission, academic standards, policies, and pastoral care. The role involves embracing and promoting the GEMS Core Values, ensuring high academic standards in Early Years, aligning with UAE National Agenda targets, formulating school aims and objectives, establishing and overseeing policies, managing staff and resources, monitoring progress, managing budgets, and contributing to the educational strategy. The Head of EYFS will establish high-quality teaching across subjects, develop monitoring and evaluation systems, oversee curriculum leadership, promote inclusive practices for students with SEN and disabilities, manage staff performance and professional development, uphold safeguarding standards, ensure organisational effectiveness, identify and address barriers to school effectiveness, lead school improvement initiatives, and maintain governance and partnership relationships.

Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and track progress in the Primary school to support the school's Vision and Mission
- Formulate the aims and objectives of the school and establish policies to achieve them
- Manage staff and resources effectively to meet school objectives
- Monitor teaching quality, curriculum delivery, and student progress, implementing improvement strategies where necessary
- Ensure high standards of behaviour and professionalism among students and staff
- Develop a broad, structured, and coherent curriculum with subject leaders and professional networks
- Promote access to curriculum and support for students with SEN and disabilities
- Manage staff performance, conduct appraisals, and provide professional development opportunities
- Oversee school safety, welfare, and safeguarding practices
- Lead school improvement initiatives and ensure strategies are monitored, implemented, and reviewed
- Engage with parents and the school community to promote educational outcomes and the school's ethos
- Maintain effective governance and comply with statutory duties and regulatory frameworks
Experience & skills
- Fully certified teacher holding B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a teaching or leadership role
- Highly experienced in the National Curriculum for England
- Proven leadership and communication abilities
- Passionate about providing outstanding teaching and learning
- Proficient in people development and staff management
- Minimum IELTS 6 or equivalent
- UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check required
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and staff
