Job description
The Senior Accountant (EMEA Operations & Statutory Compliance) at Wood in Abu Dhabi operates within the Oil & Gas finance sector, supporting regional reporting, statutory compliance, and audit coordination across the EMEA region. The role is responsible for the preparation and completion of statutory accounts and tax returns for regional legal entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance with deadlines, and proper supporting documentation. The position coordinates and executes statutory audits, liaises with external auditors, outsourced tax professionals, and internal stakeholders, and ensures all VAT filings, corporate tax, personnel income tax, and social security compliance are met. The role manages cashflow in collaboration with Group Treasury, maintains global compliance tools, and ensures results are accurately reported and analyzed. Additionally, the position supports implementation of corporate tax in the UAE including transfer pricing mechanisms, prepares and reviews balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and provides financial input to Finance Shared Centre and clients. The role requires proficiency in IFRS, accounting software, and Excel, as well as fluency in Arabic (reading, writing, speaking).

Key responsibilities
- Prepare and complete legal entity statutory accounts and tax returns ensuring accuracy and timely submissions
- Support coordination and completion of EMEA statutory audits, acting as key focal point for external auditors
- Act as liaison for outsourced tax professionals and manage tax analysis collection process
- Ensure all VAT filings and compliance are completed within statutory deadlines
- Maintain personnel income tax and social security compliance for regional entities
- Collaborate with Group Treasury to maintain accurate cashflow positions
- Maintain global compliance tool in line with statutory filings and regulations
- Ensure financial results are accurately reported, reconciled, and analyzed
- Manage implementation of corporate tax in UAE including transfer pricing mechanisms
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and government surveys
- Serve as focal point for Finance Shared Centre, liaising with external, internal, and client auditors
- Execute ad hoc financial analysis and tasks as required
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor Degree in Accounting
- Qualified ICAS / ICAEW / ACCA / ACA or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar accounting role
- Proficient in Excel and accounting software for statutory accounts completion
- Strong understanding and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Knowledge of corporate tax, transfer pricing, and VAT compliance
- Previous accounting experience in a similar finance function, preferably in Oil & Gas sector
- Proficient in Arabic (reading, writing, and speaking)
