Job description
The Manager – Credit Risk Evaluation role is responsible for leading strategic credit reviews across Institutional Banking Group (IBG), Treasury, and Wholesale Banking functions within a dynamic banking environment. The position involves developing and executing credit evaluation strategies aligned with organizational objectives while overseeing corporate and SME credit assessments to mitigate risks and minimize potential losses. The role requires ensuring compliance with internal policies and Qatar Central Bank (QCB) regulatory guidelines, reviewing and recommending credit applications, and assessing financial and operational risks. The incumbent will guide and mentor Credit Risk Analysts in financial analysis, credit grading, and risk management practices while conducting client meetings and site inspections to support credit decisions. The position also involves building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, monitoring portfolio risk exposures, maintaining regulatory compliance, and preparing management reports for senior leadership. Additionally, the Manager will contribute to recruitment activities, performance reviews, and departmental strategy initiatives while supporting institutional banking, treasury, and wholesale banking risk management functions. The role demands strong knowledge of credit review processes, financial statement analysis, regulatory frameworks, portfolio monitoring, and risk evaluation methodologies within a banking environment.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of credit risk evaluation strategies across Institutional Banking Group (IBG), Treasury, and Wholesale Banking functions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and risk appetite frameworks
- Oversee corporate and SME credit assessments by conducting detailed financial analysis, credit grading, and risk evaluation to mitigate potential credit losses and maintain portfolio quality
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, risk frameworks, and Qatar Central Bank (QCB) regulatory guidelines while maintaining adherence to regulatory governance and banking standards
- Review and recommend credit applications by assessing financial performance, operational risks, industry outlook, and borrower creditworthiness to support informed credit decisions
- Guide and mentor Credit Risk Analysts by providing oversight on financial statement analysis, credit grading methodologies, risk evaluation techniques, and portfolio monitoring activities
- Conduct client meetings and site inspections to evaluate business operations, financial strength, and operational risks, supporting credit recommendations and approval decisions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Institutional Banking, Treasury, and Wholesale Banking teams, ensuring alignment on risk strategies and credit decisions
- Prepare and present management reports, portfolio risk reviews, and credit evaluation insights to senior management while contributing to recruitment, team performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience & skills
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Banking, Finance, or related field with Master’s degree preferred, demonstrating strong academic foundation in financial services and credit risk evaluation
- Demonstrate minimum 15 years of experience in financial services or banking with extensive exposure to credit review, credit risk evaluation, and portfolio risk management functions
- Show strong familiarity with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, and banking regulatory standards governing credit risk evaluation
- Exhibit strong expertise in corporate credit assessment, SME credit analysis, financial statement analysis, credit grading, and risk management methodologies
- Demonstrate proven leadership experience in guiding Credit Risk Analysts, managing team performance, mentoring staff, and supporting departmental development initiatives
- Possess strong analytical and decision-making capabilities with ability to evaluate complex credit proposals and recommend risk mitigation strategies
- Demonstrate experience conducting client meetings, site inspections, and stakeholder engagement to support credit decisions and portfolio monitoring activities
- Show ability to prepare management reports, portfolio reviews, risk analysis documentation, and contribute to recruitment, performance reviews, and strategic credit risk initiatives
