Job description
The Senior Manager, Sales Engineering at Checkout.com in Dubai provides technical leadership throughout the sales lifecycle, managing client relationships from initial contact to solutioning, integration, and go-live. The role involves qualifying merchant technical needs, supporting pre-sales activities, leading technical and commercial workshops, contributing to RFP/RFI responses, and improving solution design documentation. The position requires translating complex business and technical requirements into efficient solutions, maintaining industry expertise, and ensuring clients receive best-in-class bespoke solutions. The Sales Engineer collaborates closely with internal teams in Technology and Business, communicates technical concepts clearly to clients, and ensures solutions meet both business and technical expectations. The role is crucial for enabling successful adoption of Checkout.com products and services, supporting revenue growth and customer satisfaction in the MENA region.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct thorough upfront qualification of merchant technical needs and infrastructure
- Support Sales team with product, business, and technical knowledge during pre-sales activities
- Design, prepare, and lead technical and commercial workshops for prospective clients
- Provide technical inputs and solution design contributions for high-value proposals, RFPs, and RFIs
- Improve solution design, documentation, and realization of custom merchant solutions
- Enhance communication with merchants on technical topics throughout the sales process
- Translate complex product, business, and technical requirements into concrete, viable solutions
- Stay up to date with industry standards to deliver bespoke solutions tailored to merchant needs
- Act as primary technical subject matter expert throughout the pre-sales process
- Collaborate with internal teams to align technical and commercial deliverables with client requirements
Experience & skills
- 8+ years experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Pre-Sales Consultant
- Experience in a client-facing technical role supporting pre-sales and solution design
- Familiarity with API-based integration methods, best practices, and related tools/frameworks
- Experience with at least one common front-end technology (JavaScript, React, Angular) and back-end technology (Java, .NET, Python, Node)
- Commercially-minded with ability to translate technical requirements into business value
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized and able to prioritize shifting workloads effectively
- Able to thrive in fast-paced environments and manage multiple responsibilities
- Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
- Previous exposure to RFI/RFP processes
- In-depth knowledge of the payments industry, including technical processes, schemes, rules, and regulations
- Ability to collaborate across teams and provide technical guidance during sales cycles
