Job description
Wood is hiring a Project Controls – Reporting Lead for its Abu Dhabi operations, focused on high-profile oil and gas projects, particularly ADNOC EPC/EPCM programs. The role is responsible for developing and reporting project cost budgets, managing expenditures, and ensuring accurate project financial controls throughout the lifecycle. The position involves leading and mentoring the cost team, ensuring compliance with project execution procedures, change management processes, and corporate risk analysis frameworks. This senior leadership role will liaise with procurement, finance, engineering, and client stakeholders, while driving continuous improvement and best practices in project cost management.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project cost budgets in alignment with WBS and Basis of Estimate
- Manage communications interfaces essential for delivery of the cost function
- Liaise with procurement, finance, engineering, and construction to ensure accurate cost capture
- Ensure costs are allocated accurately in accordance with approved project WBS
- Monitor and review commitments and expenditures throughout the project lifecycle
- Review project cost performance reports and evaluate forecast updates
- Assess cost impacts of manpower forecasts, change orders, and schedule variations
- Monitor contingency drawdowns and milestone impacts on costs
- Attend client/project meetings and present cost performance status
- Lead internal project cost performance meetings and cost close-out process
- Facilitate risk analysis sessions and compliance reviews
- Mentor and guide cost team members, delegating responsibilities and managing performance
- Participate in contract and corporate audits related to project cost management
Experience & skills
- Minimum 15 years of relevant scheduling/planning experience
- Extensive Middle East oil & gas experience
- Previous experience in major ADNOC EPC/EPCM projects
- Excellent knowledge of cost software, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow tools
- Strong knowledge of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting
- Proven ability to manage cost change estimates and prepare detailed cost reports
- Expertise in earned value management and cost/schedule variance analysis
- Understanding of project management principles, cost control, change control, planning, and risk analysis
- Prior experience in a Senior/Principal Cost role, including team management and mentoring
