Job description
The Sales Manager, Oncology, Gulf will lead and develop a team of Oncology Product Specialists to drive clinical demand and commercial performance across designated territories and tumour areas within the Gulf region. The role combines strategic account planning, leadership, and scientific engagement to strengthen AstraZeneca’s presence within key oncology accounts. The Sales Manager is accountable for territory performance, stakeholder engagement across multidisciplinary teams, and long-term partnership development with healthcare professionals and institutions. This position requires strong oncology expertise, proven leadership capability, and the ability to align commercial strategy with clinical value to deliver life-changing medicines to patients.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute territory and key account strategies aligned with Oncology therapeutic area and brand objectives, prioritizing high-value hospitals, supply pharmacies, and institutional accounts.
- Allocate resources strategically across territories and tumour segments, ensuring optimal deployment of Sales Specialists within the governmental and regulatory framework of Gulf markets.
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of Oncology Product Specialists by setting clear short- and long-term performance goals, tracking progress, and fostering continuous development in both scientific expertise and engagement skills.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, recognize achievements, and proactively address performance gaps or capability challenges within the team.
- Build and sustain long-term strategic partnerships with key stakeholders including Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT), Decision Making Units (DMU), physicians, nurses, and institutional leaders to support appropriate on-label prescribing.
- Support Sales Specialists in delivering high-quality, science-based discussions regarding approved indications, efficacy data, safety profiles, and treatment protocols for Oncology brands.
- Facilitate capability-building initiatives within the healthcare ecosystem, including multidisciplinary workshops, speaker programs with key opinion leaders (KOLs), and training sessions for oncology nurses and healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical, Marketing, Market Access, and other internal teams to share market insights, strengthen value propositions, and support overall Oncology portfolio performance.
- Ensure full compliance with AstraZeneca’s Code of Conduct, External Interactions Policy, privacy regulations, and all relevant local laws, while maintaining completion of mandatory product and compliance training across the team.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with significant exposure to Oncology or Specialty Care therapeutic areas.
- Proven experience in Sales Management, including leading, coaching, and developing high-performing field teams within complex healthcare environments.
- Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining strategic relationships with mid- and senior-level healthcare professionals, key accounts, and multidisciplinary clinical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to set direction, generate commitment, balance short- and long-term priorities, and resolve issues constructively.
- Proven ability to design and execute compelling account strategies that drive measurable business outcomes and sustainable growth.
- Strong strategic thinking, negotiation, persuasion, and judgment skills, particularly within regulated healthcare markets.
- Experience in coaching and talent development at both individual and team levels, fostering capability uplift and performance excellence.
- Solid understanding of oncology clinical pathways, treatment protocols, and scientific engagement standards to support compliant and impactful stakeholder discussions.
- Bachelor’s degree required; healthcare-related degree preferred. Key Account Management expertise and additional oncology certifications are considered advantageous.
