The Vice President – Business Risk and Controls Officer for Digital Growth and Data Solutions at Citi is responsible for supporting the development, design, and implementation of comprehensive controls programs aligned with Citi’s Policies, Standards, and Frameworks. The role focuses on proactively identifying risks, enhancing controls through automation, standardization, and rationalization, and executing transformation activities. The position involves first line activities for identification, measurement of significance and likelihood, and ongoing assessment of key risks and controls in partnership with relevant process owners. The incumbent will support assessment of control effectiveness, identify gaps, implement improvements, and collaborate with stakeholders across Digital Growth and Data Solutions to maintain operations within the firm’s Risk Appetite. The role includes supporting Enterprise Risk Management Framework execution, ensuring adherence to Risk Management and Compliance Policies, coordinating internal audits and regulatory reviews, tracking Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), and monitoring audit issues. The candidate will assess risks related to business decisions, ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and safeguard Citigroup, its clients, and assets. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, controls lifecycle knowledge, process design, program management, stakeholder management, issue management, and proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. The position operates within the Controls Governance & Oversight and Assessment & Design job family, supporting Digital and Data management environments while ensuring alignment with regulatory changes and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities
- Support the design, development, and implementation of Citi’s comprehensive controls program aligned with Citi’s Policies, Standards, and Frameworks while ensuring effective governance within Digital Growth and Data Solutions
- Assess the effectiveness of existing controls by identifying gaps, evaluating risk exposure, and implementing enhancements through automation, standardization, and rationalization initiatives
- Drive controls enhancement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, strengthen risk mitigation, and support transformation execution activities within digital and data management environments
- Coordinate with key stakeholders and relevant process owners to identify, measure, and monitor key risks and controls, ensuring management decisions align with the firm’s Risk Appetite
- Support assessment of business and functional risk appetite by evaluating changes in business environment, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and define acceptable risk levels across digital growth and data solutions operations
- Drive execution of Enterprise Risk Management Framework and ensure adherence to Risk Management and Compliance Policies across business functions
- Partner with business and functional teams to understand control processes, identify improvement opportunities, and strengthen control design and implementation
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices related to control management, ensuring controls program alignment with regulatory requirements
- Provide regular updates to senior management on controls assessment performance, risk exposures, and control enhancement initiatives
- Assess risk when business decisions are made, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations and safeguarding Citigroup’s reputation, clients, and assets
- Coordinate internal audits and regulatory reviews, supporting audit deliverables, tracking audit engagements, monitoring issues, and managing Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) for Digital and Data management
- Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency while supervising activities and creating accountability across teams for control adherence
- Support governance and oversight functions within Controls Governance & Oversight and Assessment & Design job family activities
Experience & skills
- Possess 6–10 years of experience in operational risk management, compliance, audit, or control-related functions within the financial services industry
- Demonstrate ability to identify, measure, and manage key risks and controls within enterprise-level risk management environments
- Exhibit strong knowledge in controls program development, controls lifecycle, and execution of controls assessment and design frameworks
- Show proven experience in control-related functions within financial services including operational risk, compliance, and audit
- Demonstrate experience implementing sustainable control solutions and improving operational processes within digital and data management environments
- Possess strong understanding of compliance laws, rules, regulations, and industry best practices governing financial institutions
- Maintain familiarity with Citi’s Policies, Standards, and Procedures related to risk management and controls governance
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills to evaluate complex risk, controls activities, and operational processes
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage senior management stakeholders
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in risk and controls environments
- Show ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and risk initiatives simultaneously
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Possess Bachelor’s/University degree with Master’s degree preferred
- Demonstrate experience coordinating internal audits, regulatory reviews, CAP tracking, and issue management activities
