Job description
The Category Manager for tMart in Dubai is responsible for full ownership of assigned categories in the cloud grocery store, focusing on assortment, pricing, offers, and supply. This role oversees category profitability, ensures alignment with commercial strategies, and manages vendor relationships, including contract negotiations and promotional campaigns. The position demands strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to interpret sales and market data, forecast trends, and implement actionable commercial strategies. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration to ensure end-to-end supply chain efficiency, operational alignment, and successful execution of marketing and promotional campaigns. A key aspect of the role is to provide insights on local and regional supplier needs, cost efficiency, and pricing strategies to support tMart’s rapid regional expansion.

Key responsibilities
- Own category management including assortment, pricing, promotions, and supply
- Monitor and manage economic performance across sales, margin, and profitability
- Implement commercial strategy and category plans aligned with company goals
- Provide operational input regarding tools, flows, fixtures, and adjacencies
- Resolve supplier issues and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Take full P&L accountability for assigned categories, ensuring targets are met or exceeded
- Lead strategic sourcing, vendor contracts, and marketing agreements
- Conceptualize and execute high-impact promotional campaigns and marketing initiatives
- Negotiate promotions, investments, and rebates to optimize commercial returns
- Oversee end-to-end supply chain from sourcing to shelf-ready product availability
- Define and maintain local assortment, integrating it with regional contracts
- Set pricing in line with guidelines and conduct market price audits
- Develop and monitor country-level promotion calendar and ensure effective execution
- Analyze promotional effectiveness and provide insights for continuous improvement
Experience & skills
- 5+ years of category management experience in large retailers or FMCG companies
- Proven success in P&L ownership, vendor negotiations, and promotional campaigns
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data, forecast trends, and inform strategy
- Established supplier network within UAE and deep knowledge of relevant categories
- Cross-functional leadership experience and ability to manage multiple stakeholders
- Detail-oriented, structured, and hands-on approach to operations
- Fluency in English and Arabic with strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
