Job description
The Accountant at Tractebel, a subsidiary of ENGIE Group, ensures financial integrity and compliance in the Finance Department. Responsibilities include preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports, maintaining and reconciling general ledger and balance sheet accounts, managing month-end closing tasks such as accruals, prepayments, and expense reports, conducting bank reconciliations, and supervising accounts receivable and payable. The role also involves developing cash flow forecasts, submitting VAT and WHT returns in compliance with Middle East regulations, assisting in external audits, managing payment processes and petty cash disbursements, and reconciling intercompany accounts globally. The position applies IFRS standards and supports internal accounting policies while meeting stringent reporting deadlines. Ideal candidates will possess ERP system experience, especially in QuickBooks or SAP, and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills in a dynamic cross-border environment.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and assist with budget monitoring
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
- Handle month-end closing activities including accruals, prepayments, and expense reports
- Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure timely postings in accounting systems
- Supervise accounts receivable and payable with weekly aging reviews
- Develop cash flow forecasts and support regional and group-level financial reporting
- Submit VAT and WHT returns for Middle East entities in compliance with local laws
- Assist in external audits and resolve discrepancies or compliance issues
- Manage global payment processes and petty cash disbursements
- Reconcile intercompany accounts across global Tractebel entities
- Apply and promote IFRS standards and internal accounting policies
- Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting timelines
Experience & skills
- ACCA, CA, MBA, M.COM, or equivalent educational qualification
- 3ā5 years of relevant experience as a General Accountant or Senior Accountant
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as QuickBooks, SAP, or other accounting platforms
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage deadlines in a dynamic, cross-border work environment
