Job description
The Senior Piping Stress Engineer role is responsible for executing all piping engineering activities while maintaining full technical integrity across offshore oil and gas projects. The position delivers and supports a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental culture, ensuring full compliance with process safety requirements throughout piping design. The role operates within defined budget and schedule constraints, contributes to cost and schedule estimates, and plans work in alignment with overall project schedules. It involves driving innovative engineering solutions to reduce cost and schedule, supervising third-party work, and utilizing suitable engineering technologies such as PDMS and CAESAR II to improve efficiency. The engineer participates in HAZID, design reviews, model reviews, and PEER reviews, liaises closely with multidisciplinary teams, and ensures all deliverables comply with company procedures, client requirements, national standards, and international codes of practice. The role also supports the Lead Piping Engineer by supervising junior engineers and graduates, contributing to training and professional development, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legislation, company procedures, and industry standards. The position is based in Abu Dhabi and operates within an EPC and offshore oil and gas engineering environment.

- Execute all piping engineering and piping stress analysis activities while maintaining technical integrity
- Deliver and support a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental culture and ensure compliance with process safety requirements
- Work within approved budget and schedule limits and participate in cost and schedule estimation activities
- Plan and align piping engineering work with overall project schedules
- Assist and liaise with other engineering disciplines to achieve overall project objectives
- Monitor and report engineering progress using assigned project systems
- Drive innovative engineering solutions to reduce project cost and schedule
- Supervise third-party and subcontracted engineering work
- Participate in HAZID, design reviews, model reviews, and PEER reviews
- Liaise with management and advise on variations to scope, cost, or schedule in a timely manner
- Utilize engineering tools such as PDMS and CAESAR II to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Ensure all deliverables comply with company procedures, client requirements, and national and international standards
- Ensure engineering documents are originated, checked, and approved by competent personnel
- Support the Lead Piping Engineer in supervising and training junior engineers and graduates
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company requirements, legislation, and industry standards
Experience & skills
- Hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Possess a minimum of 15 years of engineering experience with at least 7 years in offshore oil and gas projects
- Demonstrate at least 2 years of experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Have hands-on experience using PDMS and CAESAR II for piping stress analysis
- Be familiar with piping layout design and pipework stressing
- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant international standards and codes of practice
- Have EPC project environment experience (preferred)
- Hold membership of a recognized engineering institution and professional or chartered engineer registration (preferred)
- Possess working knowledge of ADNOC standards, Shell DEPs, and BAPCO standards (preferred)
