Job description
Al Futtaim is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the Dubai team, sitting at the cornerstone of algorithms, mathematics, and engineering. This role focuses on designing and implementing production-ready data science algorithms and machine learning models to manage risk and help the organization maintain its competitive edge. Responsibilities include predictive and forecasting model development, full lifecycle model management, risk monitoring, statistical analysis, and stakeholder engagement across IT, Finance, Sales, and more. The Senior Data Scientist will also mentor junior team members and communicate insights through data storytelling and visualizations.

Key responsibilities
- Develop predictive and forecasting models (RV, Equity Mining, SMR, etc.).
- Manage full model lifecycle from experimentation to deployment with ML-Flow.
- Conduct model calibrations and define post modeling adjustments to optimize performance.
- Perform regional and international asset risk monitoring.
- Calculate RV provisions, identify hand-backs, and quantify feature impacts.
- Conduct statistical and quantitative analyses to identify and quantify potential risks.
- Design and develop risk measures, methodologies, and models (RV & SMR Risk).
- Define trade cycle optimization strategies (pull-forward or backward).
- Quantify feature importance in Time-to-fail and Mileage-to-fail analysis.
- Develop predictive and analytical models using appropriate methodologies.
- Prepare RV risk recommendations highlighting risks and proposing mitigations.
- Communicate insights through presentations, visualizations, and reports.
- Build relationships with stakeholders across IT, Finance, Sales, and other teams.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to implement recommended actions.
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists and analysts on best practices.
- Plan and manage operational and project-level activities to deliver within timeframes.
Experience & skills
- 5 years’ experience in banking or financial services, specializing in data analytics and business intelligence.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science with ML, NLP, Neural Nets, and Time-Series Forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning methods.
- Proficiency with ML frameworks including scikit-learn, tensorflow, RF, xgboost, MLFlow.
- Excellent programming skills in Python, R, and SQL.
- Familiarity with Azure Databricks is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in MS-Office; experience with visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- BSc or MSc degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Full proficiency in English.
- Proven track record in delivery of analytics use cases such as credit risk modeling, fraud detection, customer segmentation, and compliance reporting.
