Job description
The Senior Flight Operations Engineer at flydubai in Dubai is responsible for providing technical expertise across all aspects of Flight Operations Engineering, with a primary focus on the Boeing 787 entry into service (EIS). The role ensures aircraft performance, weight and balance, minimum equipment list (MEL), aircraft documentation, operations planning and optimisation, fuel conservation, and operating cost optimisation are maintained at the highest standards. The engineer leads performance validation, develops and updates technical manuals and support documentation, and ensures compliance with regulatory and operational requirements. Additionally, the role involves supporting fleet and route evaluations, developing aircraft reweighs, new interior configurations, and loading schedules, managing electronic checklists (ECLs), and providing technical training for Boeing OPT staff. The Senior Flight Operations Engineer represents flydubai during internal, GCAA, and IOSA audits, contributes to strategic guidance for senior management, and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal operational performance and safety compliance.

Key responsibilities
- Lead all Flight Operations Engineering aspects for the Boeing 787 entry into service (EIS), providing strategic guidance to senior management and ensuring safe and efficient implementation.
- Assess flight operations engineering elements of new airports, identifying, highlighting, and mitigating potential operational constraints.
- Design, validate, and revise engine out procedures to optimise take-off and landing performance for the fleet.
- Develop, customise, revise, and produce performance documentation and technical content for published manuals and support materials.
- Ensure all flight operations engineering procedures are compliant, optimised, and aligned with regulatory and operational requirements.
- Develop and update Weight and Balance documents and manage the Departure Control System, including aircraft reweighs, new interior configurations, and loading schedule design.
- Develop the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) for new aircraft types and update MEL for existing fleet, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Provide analysis and resolution for aircraft performance-related non-normal procedures and dispatch issues under MEL items.
- Deliver training on aircraft performance, weight and balance, and Boeing OPT procedures to relevant personnel.
- Support fleet and route evaluations, taking into account aircraft performance and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to the flydubai EFB and e-Enablement strategy, ensuring Electronic Checklists (ECLs) are accurate and compliant with operational procedures.
- Represent flydubai and Flight Operations Engineering interests at internal meetings, external stakeholder engagements, and industry forums.
- Represent the department during internal, GCAA, and IOSA audits, ensuring compliance and effective responses to audit findings.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering with 3+ years of academic study.
- 10–12 years of significant experience in airline or OEM Flight Operations Engineering departments.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of Boeing 787 aircraft systems; previous involvement with Boeing 787 entry into service (EIS) is mandatory.
- Experience in developing and updating Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and Electronic Checklists (ECL).
- Knowledge of freighter Weight & Balance operations is preferred.
- Strong understanding of aircraft performance, operations planning, fuel efficiency, and cost optimisation.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages relevant to the region are advantageous.
- Ability to provide strategic guidance to senior management, deliver technical training, and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
