Job description
The Principal Consultant - Technology and Implementation (Utilities Domain) at Wipro is responsible for managing the delivery of complex consulting and digital transformation engagements, with a focus on driving business value for clients through technology-led initiatives. The role involves acting as a trusted advisor to senior clients, leading consulting project teams, ensuring quality assurance, and managing multiple work streams. The consultant will oversee consulting execution, business development, and practice contribution within Wipro’s consulting framework. Responsibilities include leading teams in delivering consulting solutions, managing project budgets, developing proposals, supporting RFI/RFP efforts, and maintaining high client satisfaction levels. The position also involves generating business growth opportunities, contributing to thought leadership, and developing reusable intellectual property (IP) assets and frameworks. The Principal Consultant will collaborate with global consulting groups (GCG) and delivery teams to integrate propositions, improve service offerings, and strengthen Wipro’s positioning in client organizations. The role demands strong utilities domain knowledge, extensive consulting experience, and the ability to balance business development with hands-on project leadership. The consultant must achieve high personal utilization while mentoring junior team members, curbing attrition, and driving engagement excellence across consulting practices.

- Lead consulting project delivery across technology and implementation engagements within the utilities domain.
- Act as an ambassador for Wipro’s values, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and client expectations.
- Manage teams of consultants, oversee work streams, and ensure quality assurance across multiple programs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, maintaining strong client relationships and securing positive feedback.
- Manage work stream budgets, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate consulting teams, building trust and enhancing performance quality.
- Ensure timely completion of project administration tasks, including statements of work (SoW) and project tagging.
- Identify and convert business development leads into proposals and revenue-generating opportunities.
- Collaborate with account teams to build and expand Wipro’s footprint through lateral and vertical selling.
- Contribute to and lead proposal development, RFI/RFP submissions, and client presentations.
- Develop and share industry and technology insights to establish thought leadership and support go-to-market strategies.
- Create and document case studies and reusable intellectual property (IP) for use in future consulting engagements.
- Drive consulting revenue growth through flawless delivery and strategic transformation engagements.
- Ensure integration of consulting services across Wipro teams to deliver end-to-end digital transformation solutions.
- Contribute to talent development through coaching, cross-skilling, and leadership training of junior consultants.
- Participate in internal initiatives such as knowledge management, webinars, and cross-practice collaboration.
- Track and report key performance indicators including utilization, revenue achievement, and client satisfaction (CSAT/PCSAT).
- Support business growth by identifying downstream opportunities and contributing to new service offerings.
- Monitor talent attrition and implement measures to maintain a strong and motivated consulting team.
- Promote innovation and thought leadership within the utilities domain through published content and client roadshows.
Experience & skills
- Mandatory experience in the Utilities Domain.
- 8–10 years of experience in consulting, project management, and technology implementation.
- Proven experience managing consulting teams and multiple project work streams.
- Strong understanding of business transformation and digital consulting principles.
- Ability to lead proposal development, RFI/RFP responses, and business development initiatives.
- Experience managing client relationships at senior stakeholder levels.
- Strong budget management and quality assurance capabilities.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing consulting frameworks, methodologies, and deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to thought leadership through white papers, frameworks, and case studies.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills with the ability to engage executive stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring junior consultants and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to meet high utilization targets while maintaining delivery excellence.
- Demonstrated success in driving growth, innovation, and engagement in consulting environments.
