Job description
The Senior ELV Engineer at Al-Futtaim Engineering & Technologies (AFET) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, plays a crucial role in the design, coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems across large-scale real estate and infrastructure projects. The position involves developing detailed ELV system designs including CCTV, Fire Alarm, Access Control, Building Management Systems (BMS), Public Address, SMATV/IPTV, PABX, Data & Wi-Fi networks, Structured Cabling, Guest Room Management Systems (GRMS), and Parking Management Systems. The engineer ensures all systems are implemented in compliance with international standards such as NFPA, BS, IEC, and TIA/EIA, as well as local authority regulations. The role demands extensive collaboration with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery within project timelines and budgets. The position requires proficiency in reviewing design documents, preparing technical submittals, coordinating across multidisciplinary MEP teams, supervising on-site installations, and performing system-level testing and troubleshooting. The Senior ELV Engineer will also ensure adherence to quality assurance (QA), health, safety, environment (QHSE), and asset management systems. The role includes operational support for procurement activities, preparation of BOQs, maintenance of project documentation, and assistance in client handover processes through O&M manual development and training. Additionally, the engineer will manage site teams, allocate resources efficiently, and drive workforce productivity, while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities
- Review and interpret project specifications, IFC drawings, and ELV system requirements.
- Design ELV systems including CCTV, Access Control, BMS, Fire Alarm, Public Address, SMATV/IPTV, PABX, Data & Wi-Fi, Structured Cabling, GRMS, and Parking Management systems.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, schematics, and layouts ensuring compliance with international and local standards.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, and MEP teams to ensure design and execution alignment.
- Prepare technical submittals, material approvals, and shop drawings for consultant or operator review.
- Supervise installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of ELV systems on-site per approved drawings and manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and project timelines.
- Conduct testing, programming, and commissioning of all ELV systems and coordinate troubleshooting efforts.
- Prepare comprehensive testing and commissioning reports for client handover.
- Ensure installation quality aligns with project QA/QC and QHSE requirements.
- Develop and implement safety, quality, and asset management procedures for ELV operations.
- Support procurement through preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and material take-offs.
- Maintain organized records of drawings, RFIs, submittals, and as-built documentation.
- Assist in preparing operation and maintenance manuals and training materials for clients.
- Allocate and supervise workforce on-site according to work schedules and technical skillsets.
- Monitor workforce productivity and arrange skills development or training for foremen and technicians.
- Ensure effective communication across project teams and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Electronics, or Communication Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
- 7–12 years of experience in MEP or ELV system design, installation, and commissioning.
- Proven ability to design and review ELV systems including Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, and related technologies.
- Strong knowledge of international standards including NFPA, BS, IEC, and TIA/EIA.
- Experience in preparing system integration plans, calculations, and shop drawings.
- Proficiency with software such as AutoCAD and MS Office.
- Familiarity with ELV integration protocols such as TCP/IP, Modbus, and BACnet.
- Preferred certifications include BICSI, KNX, or manufacturer-specific credentials (Honeywell, Siemens, Bosch, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure quality compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills for managing site teams and liaising with consultants and clients.
- Strong focus on QHSE, asset management, and compliance with technical and safety standards.
