Job description
In this role you will provide technical leadership across all geology-related activities within Crescent Petroleum's Subsurface Team, managing a team of geologists to ensure the timely delivery of subsurface studies. You will oversee regional geological evaluations, structural geology, reservoir characterisation, geomodelling, petroleum systems analysis, and geochemistry in support of exploration, appraisal, and development activities. Your responsibilities include team leadership covering performance management, objective setting, competency development, and identification of training needs to foster continuous improvement. You will contribute to the annual work programme and budget process, providing geological input to support strategic planning and investment decisions. You are responsible for delivering geological input to support asset maturation, evaluation, and ranking within appraisal and development portfolios, and defining technical scopes, deliverables, and requirements for project proposals. You will integrate seismic, well, core, and production data to develop and refine geological models, reservoir frameworks, and field architecture, and you are responsible for conducting probabilistic resource assessments in accordance with SPE-PRMS and other applicable classification systems. You will collaborate with reservoir engineers, petrophysicists, and geophysicists to deliver integrated subsurface interpretations, and prepare and present technical documentation for internal reviews, partner meetings, and regulatory submissions. In this role you will mentor junior geoscientists, support well planning activities including geological prognoses and geohazard assessment, and be accountable for all geological aspects of field development planning and execution. You will also support business development activities through technical evaluations, due diligence, and opportunity screening.

- Demonstrate expertise in seismic interpretation, stratigraphy, structural geology, and basin analysis, given the role's responsibility for integrating multiple data types into coherent geological models
- Show proficiency in geological modelling software, including Petrel and GeoX, since these are the specific tools this role is expected to use for geomodeling and reservoir framework development
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of probabilistic resource estimation methods and volumetric uncertainty analysis, reflecting the role's direct responsibility for SPE-PRMS-compliant resource assessments
- Show proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects to successful delivery, since the role combines technical leadership with people management responsibilities including performance and competency development
- Have experience working with carbonate and naturally fractured reservoir systems, reflecting the specific reservoir types likely relevant to Crescent Petroleum's asset portfolio
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the regional geology and petroleum systems of the Middle East and North Africa, given the role's focus on subsurface work within this specific geological setting
- Show the ability to critically evaluate technical interpretations, challenge unsupported conclusions, and promote evidence-based decision-making, which is essential for a role accountable for investment-grade recommendations
- Demonstrate excellent technical writing, presentation, and communication skills, since the role requires preparing and presenting documentation for partner meetings, Joint Management Committee meetings, and regulatory submissions
