Job description
This role is responsible for ensuring the company's interests are safeguarded at all times by advising the company on contract-related matters, from drafting through to risk limitation, and representing the company in contractual implementations and M&A transactions. The position entails overseeing legal matters related to contracts, guiding business units, supervising legal support staff, managing due diligence and legal structuring for M&A deals, and liaising with external legal advisors. The Senior Legal Counsel will ensure full legal compliance, optimize legal strategies, and support the continuity and integrity of Ooredooâs business operations.

Key responsibilities
- Provide legal support to all business areas in respect of contractual matters
- Draft all contracts ensuring alignment with regulatory and commercial standards
- Resolve business-related contractual issues
- Maintain records and tracking of all contracts within the business
- Review and advise on legal contracts submitted by business units
- Negotiate legal terms of contracts on behalf of the company
- Provide guidance on tender processes and ensure compliance with legal standards
- Liaise with external law firms and advisors as needed
- Conduct legal research and recommend improvements to contracting procedures
- Advise business units on contractual non-compliance and corrective actions
- Supervise and develop the legal support team
- Act as the main contact for all contractual matters
- Lead legal role on M&A transactions including strategy, due diligence, and documentation
- Collaborate with Group Strategy and Finance on legal aspects of structuring
- Manage litigation projects and ensure cases are properly prepared
- Ensure work is planned and delivered on time and within budget
- Support business units in implementing risk-mitigation measures
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs degree in Law
- 10 years of work experience
- Experience with corporate contractual matters in a law firm or telco business
- Expertise in contract law, telecom regulations, and litigation
- Demonstrated ability to lead M&A legal strategy and due diligence
- Strong negotiation and drafting experience in complex legal contracts
- Ability to manage legal projects and external legal advisors
- Experience supervising legal teams and advising business units
- Knowledge of international and local regulatory standards
